SAN FRANCISCO — Immigrant children living in the United States without legal status have been blocked from registering for school and accessing the educational services they need, according to a report on school districts in four states by Georgetown University Law Center researchers.

Such students have faced long enrollment delays and have been turned away from classrooms as the result of some districts’ arbitrary interpretations of residency rules and state laws, the researchers said.

The law NEEDS to be changed to ban any illegal alien, even a kid, from having access to schools and so on except in their own country. Period.

Right there is a way to locate the illegal parents also so that deportation procedures can be started. Make the schools mandated reporters.

I am SO, SO happy to see this. Maybe it will catch on. This would not be an issue if we were enforcing immigration law and that is why there is no policy in place. "What do we do with illegal aliens trying to register for school?" Start deportation procedures since they aren't supposed to be here in the first place.

This is what I don't get. From the article: ‘‘We remain vigilant about our responsibility to protect the civil rights of all students, including immigrant students, undocumented students, and unaccompanied immigrant students,’’ Education Department spokeswoman said.

Wait a minute! You mean that "unaccompanied" minor students can enroll in school without their parents being with them? They don't need proof of residency, immunization or birth records that would prove their age and what grade would be appropriate for them? WTH?

Good idea. Time to hold the schools accountable. They know where these aliens are so they need to help.
