We pay for it.

Nothing happens to them at all. Do you know how many hospitals failed in the state of California in the last 15 years because illegals couldn't pay their bills?

Here's a classic article from 11 years ago.

Quote:
"We're citizens here. Why should somebody from another country that's here illegally get anything that we can't get? I mean that's dumb, that's not right," said Don Schenck, whose son, Bill, is mentally disabled.

Though the Schencks are uninsured, and considered poor by county standards, his father had to find a way to pay for his Bill's care while thousands of others, in the country illegally, get it for free.

"It makes you feel pretty bad when you're born in that country and you're handicapped and you've got a learning disability and you can't get medical," Schenck said.

Most don't have credit, no collections, no way to make them pay up. It's considered "free" medical services by them. There are no consequences. They use the emergency room as their personal doctors every time one of their kids has a runny nose. Then they get a bill and walk out without paying. See how easy that is?

The sensible thing of course would be to have the Feds pick up the cost as they have the responsibility for illegal aliens. That however is met with strong resistance from the right. So bascially the local hospital or government picks up the costs. Note that it is Federal law that everyone get emergency treatment but the Feds, particularly from the right, refuse to pay for it. And much the same goes on with citizen poor except medicaid helps many.

The responsible thing would be for hospitals to call INS or DHS when ever an illegal comes in for care.

Again the Feds need to fix the illegal alien problem. My expectation is that the only rational solution will be to legalize most.

But even if you wish to believe the fairy tale that Trump or someone will deport them all we need a strategy until that fantasized day comes.

And there is no indication that INS or anyone has the resources nor the capability to deal with the illegals at the emergency room. The Hospitals would love it. All of a sudden the illegal is a Federal Prisoner and the Feds pay the bills. Would that not be nice?

But perhaps you should be aware that in fact when the Feds are chasing an illegal van and there is a bad accident the Feds arrest nobody and in fact leave the scene to local law enforcement. Why? Because the Feds do not want to be responsible for the medical care the illegals will require.

So the Feds arresting sick illegals sounds very unlikely.

Ahh no. They don't go after anyone who can't pay. Very simple reason. You can't spend money to collect from those who have no money.
