Collection agencies go after the old and feeble Americans that worked very hard for very little ,who are on a meager fixed income badgering them for every dollar. Illegals , they just assume they won't pay and probably won't.

Collection Agencies badger anyone they can get hold of and who might cough up some money. They have no idea of who is illegal or not. And they quit when they don't get any money from the debtor. Know a guy who is actually upper middle class who went sue free some years ago. Had huge debts but no assets or income. Never paid a dime to anyone. After a couple of years all the collection agencies gave up.

Well, I've worked in attorneys' offices, and it's almost the same thing. The illegals get busted on a felony passing through on the interstate, post bail, "disappear"...and stiffed us for the bill. And the bail bondsman as well.

We're in a rural area, where "foreigners" (i.e mid East or Hispanic) are pretty much "not the norm" and eyeballed, but a few would get arrested now and then. My employer, a criminal attorney, couldn't speak Spanish, and wouldn't represent them unless they made a large down payment on the retainer fee. No work done on the case until the check cleared. They usually had a "relative" to post bond and pay the fee (who later would deny knowledge of their whereabouts). But that didn't prevent said client from "vanishing" before the trial date.

You keep saying the Feds should pay for it.....where do you think they get the money? From our taxes, not the money tree behind the White House. Taxes that can be used to help our own citizens. Sheesh!

I have no illusions. The difference is that costs loaded onto the local hospital disappear. But cost accepted by the Federal government appear as billion dollar items on federal budgets. Which do you think gets more attention.

And I see no reason why small hospitals near the border should suffer the damage caused by all of us being unable to deal with the illegals. Illegal aliens are a federal problem and their costs should be born but the feds. That means all us tax paypers. Not the few who live near an border hospital.
