The link I posted was local news. Since the FBI and ICE were already involved; do you really think private citizens have any chance? Possibly the company is totally above board today; it was nine years ago that ICE raided the factory. Many businesses will simply not open their doors for anybody to walk in and inspect. I do not even know anybody that has ever worked there.
American business will do anything to save money or increase profits. I grew up through the years where they waged war against the unions and basically won - most employees are too afraid today to push for more pay. Our businesses will close their doors or outsource if pushed too hard. Then, even when they won over the unions; they still outsourced and simply moved offshore. There is no loyalty to American workers.
It's not just legitimate licensed American businesses that are the problem.
Illegal aliens run underground economy unlicensed businesses in the U.S., and employ other illegal aliens while paying no FICA, no federal income tax, etc.
Quote:
Up to half of illegal immigrants ...are believed to work in a large shadow economy, where workers are compensated in cash, don't report the income and don't pay income taxes.
And because it appears as if they have no income, they easily sign up their "anchor" children (who shouldn't even be US citizens at all, same as their parents) for all kinds of freebie welfare benefits, on top of that tax-free and unreported income.
Illegal aliens' underground economy unlicensed, unregistered, and therefore untaxed businesses, untaxed employees' income, etc., is hardly ever talked about.

I agree. For every legitimate business there are many that operate under the table. But we always have to start someplace and legitimate businesses that illegally use illegal labor is one good place to start. It isn't only that; but some of the 'under the table' money still gets filtered (laundered) into above board jobs and services.
We are great at talking about solutions; but we have not changed. We know what we have to do; but we do not have the stomach to institute those changes. No more birthright citizenship, walls, aggressive border control enforcing, E-Verify, deportation, defund sanctuary cities, fines and imprisonment for employers - all are a good start.
Let them stay if they want. BUT... They should only be allowed to do the worst, most miserable, and most unbearable of jobs that Americans simply will not do. After many years of hard labor, when their backs hurt and bodies are used up, load them on a bus with all their money and belongings, and send them back to the crap hole they came from.
Those that prefer not to be used as slaves will think twice before criminally entering this country and squandering it's scarce resources.
Sending illegals to college is probably the stupidest thing this country could do, and an utter waste of time and resources. You do not need a college degree to shovel manure, or perform other menial labor. Besides, we have plenty enough college graduates in this country. No sense adding more competition for jobs.
This was Ronald Reagan's attitude as well as that of Bush I and II. Unfortunately, it backfired and smacks of racism. It's why the first several speakers at the DNC are rallying about legalizing illegal immigrants.
What we need to do is secure our borders, force employers to use e-verify, and severely punish employers who do what you're saying you would do. And I'm not talking a slap-on-the-wrist fine. I'm talking you lose your business license. Or pay 10,000 per day for as long as you've employed an illegal immigrant and exploited that person.
