Well that is the main motivation behind the GOP's tacit support of Illegal Immigration. Jeff Sessions notwithstanding, the GOP are not innocent babes in this mess.

Most GOPers oppose illegal immigration though and do not support amnesty. There are a few sell outs but they aren't the norm. Some have jumped on the band wagon simply to capture the Hispanic vote. As for the cheap labor, outside of congress there are just as many Democrats as Republicans that hire illegal aliens.

Yes but the Dems want the votes. The GOP, Reagan notwithstanding, has no such pretensions.

The GOP tends to sit back and do nothing. Bush himself wanted amnesty.

The GOP should put up or shut up. Make fist, stand up, and carefully explain their view.

This is great news! No more DAPA or DACA , which gives benefits to those illegal here, keeping them from being deported, and allowing them to obtain work permits. No more ! Now, Go Trump, and continue to bring our Immigration Law back to where it once was and protect our country.

Thank You a very sensible poster. And just what is the problem here, with wanting to protect our Country, I can think of no reason why anyone should have a problem with wanting to protect our Homeland.

The problem is the majority of GOP voters don't fully understand this complex issue. They think a simple fix like enforcing the law (which most LE Departments in the US already do) will fix the problem and any GOPer that presents a pragmatic solution (Rubio, Bush, McCain) runs the risk of electoral defeat.

We need common sense changes and neither a welcome mat nor mass deportations are included as part of a realistic potential solution.

We need no changes. We just need to enforce the laws. There wouldn't be mass deportations because they would go out slowly as they realized there would be no financial assistance for them and protesting and making demands would get them deported, showing up any where without papers would make them suspect and follow up with start the proceedings, knowing that a traffic stop could send them back, signing up children that are here illegally for school, just like any other criminal, at any minute they could be apprehended and all they have to do is haul tail back to where they came from, the country to whom they and their supposed anchor owe allegiance to.

We just need to enforce the laws on the illegals like we do our own citizens. We have over a million US citizen non-violent criminals in prison. Many are separated from their children who are in foster care and others will have been adopted to other families.

I am sick of supporting illegals aliens while our own citizens go without services. They are not our problem but the problem of their mother country.

I think we are all aware that the Dems are the biggest panderers for the Hispanic vote and are doing so with promises of amnesty but as I said some GOPers think that if they pander to them with amnesty also they will pull some of that vote away from the Dems.

Not sure what you mean by them being do nothings. Doing nothing about what? I think that true conservative GOPers have already explained their views that they don't want any amnesty.

This illegal immigration issue has been lurking for almost 40 years. It is about time this gets resolved and then scratched off the 'To Do' list once and for all. This will take a strong bipartisan effort to get done.

If it was up to me I would first seal our borders, pardon the illegals already here that have no criminal history and have at least 7 years living here, deport the illegals with criminal history and /or less than 7 years living here, fine the pardoned illegals $2,500 to $5,000 (they will have 12 months to pay the fine or else get deported), special 'pardoned' visas for these people will be issued once the fine is paid and then I would enforce a strict e-verify service from a determined starting point. From this determined starting point no government handout OF ANY KIND will be provided to anyone that is not an American citizen. Student visas, tourist visas and job visas will be harder to obtain. If you are from another country and want to invest in the U.S. you will be placed in front of the line provided you hire Americans and this will be checked.

With my plan there will be losers and winners. Some illegal aliens will undoubtedly self deport. Others wanting to come in will no longer come as the freebies will be taken away. That's it. This is my plan.
