What's the big deal about cancelling birthright? More and more countries are putting a stop to that unless at least 1 parent is a citizen of that country, it's def time for the US to do the same thing.
It would be nice if these bills did come up for a vote. Lino Graglia put it quite aptly. From the article:
Witnesses from the Republican side -- John Eastman of the Claremont Institute's Center for Constitutional Jurisprudence, Jon Feere of the Center for Immigration Studies and University of Texas law professor Lino Graglia -- all argued against granting automatic citizenship to everyone born in the U.S., either as unnecessary under the law or bad policy.
"It is difficult to imagine a more irrational and self-defeating legal system than one that makes unauthorized entry into the country a criminal offense and simultaneously provides the greatest possible inducement to illegal entry: a grant of American citizenship," Graglia, who was testifying on behalf of himself and not the university, said during his testimony.

This issue is brought up by the GOP every couple of years. I hope that this time around that it gains traction. It is so needed.
I don't see a thing wrong with this. Most countries do NOT grant citizenship to people simply for being born on their soil, and they are not constantly accused of racism or xenophobia.
America was founded on illegal immigration. That will never change
So was Mexico. Does Mexico or any other country allow illegal aliens?
Too; if talking about the American Indians, they came here in different waves so using YOUR opinion, most of the AI's were also illegal aliens but no 1 says "boo" about that.
The US and Canada are the only first world nations left with birthright citizenship.
The other countries that recently changed their laws did so because of a huge influx of poor illegals coming to have kids and getting on the welfare wagon.
Changing birthright citizenship has nothing to do with legal immigration.

We were not founded on illegal immigration because there were no immigration laws hundreds of years ago.
