But these days, the share of “Other than Mexicans”, or OTMs—yes, this is an official classification—is much larger than in the past. And while some of them might have been lured by the promise of a job, like their Mexican counterparts, many of them are women and children fleeing violence and crime in Central America.

US immigration policy has totally lost touch with US immigration reality

Central Americans: why the US. LatAm ain't good enough for you people?

Was it ever in touch with reality?

We have millions of people that are not citizens and we have no idea who they are and we let them here take jobs, form gangs, open shops, free education...etc.

It's not out of touch actually it's working against our citizens, our people.

That's what I have been saying about Trump. If he gets in and does nothing but actually enforce the laws that we already have his Presidency will be a success.

With Hillary we will have many out of work border agents because they won't be needed when she opens the borders up.

If Trump gets in and only enforces existing law has is that different than Obama? Deportations are currently at an all time high. Border security has doubled in last 8 years. If you really want to get rid of illegals petition your state to pass laws that adopt laws that require E-verify by all employers.

No, deportations are not at an all time high under Obama. He counted those turned away at the border as deportations and has granted stays of deportation to millions under DACA and DAPA. He has instructed Homeland Security not to deport any illegal aliens unless they are "convicted" criminals. His deportation record is dismal.

I agree about e-verify but we need to remove all of the incentives for them to remain here and all means to support themselves such as benefits and birthright citizenship for their kids also. Enforce the laws on the books as they are found and not grant them stays of deportation instead. Bring back the workplace raids also. Build the 700 mile wall that congress already approved and it will serve as a deterrant also.
