In 2005, as I was preparing to graduate from high school, I faced deportation to my native country, Germany. Unknown to me, the visa I had used to come to the United States as a child had expired, and I was not a legal resident of the country I knew as home. At the time, DeWine acknowledged that our immigration system was dysfunctional and supported my release.

Really? Seriously? Manny Bartsch: just cause you're probably "white" and def German does NOT give you a pass against our immigration laws. You're NO better than a Spanish speaking Indian who's also in the US illegally. Sheesh!

So our immigration system is dysfunctional just because the visa had expired? Um, I don't think so! It's up to those who have them to see that they renew them on time or leave the country if they can't renew them.

We have a fair immigration system and anyone that won't comply with it goes despite where they come from. We don't care where they come from only that if they don't belong here, they leave. Geesh, so simple.
