DILLEY, Tex. — Hellen Guerrero left El Salvador only because she felt she had to. Her country was collapsing after the breakdown of a truce between two of its most powerful gangs, and one of them, MS-13 — famous for its deadly machete hackings — was after her.

For years, Guerrero, 30, had visited nearby schools with police officers, preaching against violence. Then, one of the officers she worked with was killed. Soon after, members of the same gang showed up at her house.

Im guessing it is because over the last 30 years our government has removed any fear of violating our immigration laws.

Violence is at the heart of the migration, Honduras has been somewhat successful with curbing violence through creative programs.

It's not very difficult to understand why they come here rather than pay taxes to murderous street gangs, terrible story about half way down the article regarding how they killed the 13 year old daughter of a store owner that couldn't pay the tax. It boils down to either leaving or being killed.

Two years ago, some 18,000 unaccompanied Honduran children showed up on the United States border. Now community leaders say the number of youngsters heading north from this neighborhood has been cut by more than half. Honduras has dropped from first place to third among Central American countries sending unaccompanied children to the United States illegally.

Smart investments in Honduras are succeeding. This offers a striking rebuke to the rising isolationists in American politics. A Pew Research Center poll in April found that most Americans think the United States should “deal with its own problems” while others deal with theirs “as best they can,” a sentiment that’s at the core of Donald J. Trump’s “America First” slogan and “build a wall” campaign. Many seem to have lost their faith in American power.

As Packard Fan asked why aren't they moving to another non-violent Latino country then? We can't be the flophouse to the world.

Good question, seems the choices are limited, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama. It might be a choice of avoiding death vs starving to death.

So they'd starve to death in those countries?

We are seeing failed states all lover the world where law and order is collapsing and people are fleeing for their very lives.

They are allowed to come to America as illegal aliens because it is the "humane" thing to do. Yes America is a very generous nation but the trouble is when these people immigrate here they are not leaving their problems at the border.

How long will it be before we start seeing collapses on our nation?

There are already places in Chicago, Detroit, Milwaukee and other cities where people (whites) risk their lives in going.

We have seen videos of muslim neighborhoods in Europe where the Police are kept from entering.

How long will it be before the problems of the Third World countries start to really rot the core of America?

Because the Dumb Gringo will pay for everything.

Next thing, they'll be calling themselves "Obama's guests" the way refugees in Germany are refusing to work because they say they're "Merkel's guests."
