Thumbs down Arrested illegal migrants urged to be silent

Quote:
Community groups are responding to a controversial crackdown on illegal immigrants with a controversial plan of their own: They are giving undocumented people advice on how to avoid being deported.

Immigration advocates say they are simply trying to protect the rights of illegal immigrants, not teach them how to beat the system.

Critics say the advice amounts to helping people who have broken the law.

Fair enough; just don't squawk when arrested for aiding and abetting illegal immigration.

Damn............Now I wonder if those groups are sponsored by which party or both.
I find it amazing advising one in methods to subvert a law doesn't in and of itself constitute conspiracy.

Great find there AB...................
But no more amazing than our own state chamber of commerce being involved in a law suit against the state of Oklahoma.
I was a meeting last week that included numerous (20)high level community leaders of several cities who were expressing "concern" about our new law, because they have been approached by representatives of their Chambers about its impacts. on their respective communities. I listened for a while and determined the thrust was the business impact from having to hire new employees that included "benefit packages" as a new Unexpected business cost.
I finally made the observation that the business community concern was one thing but the general population concern was another and that they the appointed officials would be well served to listen to the electorate of their communities rather than the business concerns of their community that didn't live in their towns and probably lived in the gated communities that rely so heavily on these illegals for their gated community lawn care needs. ( the above taken from a direct quote of a member of my business community)
I further pointed out to these officials the elected officials of their towns would respond to the wishes of their electorate and they needed to be careful in one concept and that is "perception is politics is perception".
Oklahoma electorate wants this law...........

THANK YOU, ArizonaBear . . . this is downright ridiculous.

Why would anyone "assume" Illegals should have rights in this country considering their blatant disrespect for our immigration laws?

Good advice, but too late, I'm afraid. If a lot of these folks had been "silent" a year or two ago, they'd probably have avoided the attention of the authorities who are now busy arresting them...Thanks a LOT. MEChA !!!........(grrrrrr)...

These groups are actually hurting the illegals -- what they're suggesting is stupid.

It really is best for the illegal to opt for voluntary departure and get home with a clean record. Once they decide to fight it and are deported anyhow, it is on their record and hurts their chances for coming legally if they should choose to go that route.

Illegal aliens do not have a right to remain in the country. I can't stand liars.

The Truth Detective is on a distinguished road
I would have to think that silence in many cases would be a clear admission of guilt. Hopefully most officers will share this thought process. Why would a legal U.S. resident refuse to answer a question regarding their status?
