South Carolina Senator Lindsay Graham and other members of the infamous gang of eight are at it again.

Senator Graham has reached out to the original members of the gang to help him craft legislation that would protect immigrants who illegally entered the country as children from deportation. He intends for this to replace President Obama’s 2012 DACA in the event that President Trump reverses the 2012 executive order.

He thought that Trump would lose the election and already started efforts to resurrect the failed bill before the election took place. "I'll tell you what I'm going to do in 2017." Graham told Politico. "I'm going to take the Gang of Eight bill out, dust if off and ask anybody and everybody who wants to work with me to make it better to do so."

Sounds like Senator Rubio is not yet on board with it. But, "The hour we can move it, we've got to move it," Senator Flake said back in July.

He went after Rubio during the campaign for his involvement in that bill.

White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer clarified later Thursday that Trump does not support the Gang of Eight bill, but was "glad to listen" to senators' thoughts on immigration and encouraged future cooperation. To be fair: a LOT of Dream Act people would NOT get amnesty when any kind of felony or hard misdemeanor is being talked about.

This isn't just about the Dreamers. The gang of eight bill applies to all illegal immigrants. I assume now that it will not apply to those who have committed serious crimes.

Not exactly, this was also posted in the P&OC forum. From the link it said that Trump was just considering opening up dialect with the Gang of Eight. He said nothing about agreeing with an amnesty that was in that original bill.

I am still learning the ins and outs of this forum. So, I apologize if this is a dumb question. But, isn't this the P&OC (Politics & Other Controversies) forum? I seem to be missing something and would appreciate some guidance. Where can I see the post to which you refer?

You are in a sub-forum of the Politics and Other Controversies, look up and see that following that you have "Illegal Immigration". I'll see if I link the other thread. I couldn't find it in a search.

I think we'll find that Trump is going to support the laws of the USA which is his job. He is well aware that people do not want immigration reform, they want immigration law enforced. Enforcement is already underway. He won't announce his plans to the media, just let justice be served.

Keep in mind that a Democratic senator said that Trump said, let's wait to see what Trump says himself. As we know, Democrats only hear what they want to hear which is that their agenda will be served, well, them and the turn coat Republicans.

Don't worry about posting here, it is fine and relevant. If you ever end up posting in the wrong area, mods will just move and provide a link to your post. It can just be a judgement call. No big deal. You're fine!

In this article, Trump says he would be glad to look at the bill, which is fair. Sometimes one can salvage something from wreckage. http://thehill.com/homenews/administ...migration-bill

The topic was in the P&OC forum awhile ago but it seems to be gone now. I know I posted a reply in it. The article that was linked by a poster over there mentioned that Trump was only open to some dialect from the Gang of Eight but didn't indicate that he was in favor of the amnesty part of it. Of course the poster left that conveniently out of his remarks implying that Trump is in favor of amnesty now.

Thanks so much for the links. Just noticed that I misspelled President in the title of my post. LOL! Wish I could correct it.

Ask "Yac", he's the moderator here, to fix the thread title.
