Later this month, federal agents will walk into a windowless, concrete room in the Jackson County jail in East Texas to install a fingerprint machine and a high-speed internet hookup. Once that’s done, Jackson County correctional officers will be able to access federal databases to check whether the people they’ve arrested are undocumented immigrants—and call in the feds if they are

Doubling as Immigration Officers, Sheriffs Applaud Trump Order

Break the law, get in trouble. All the illegals need to do is go HOME then they'll be Ok.

This should be done in every jail all over the country.

Yet we have leftist nutjobs like Garcetti in Los Angeles saying his officers can't be bothered

I guess he just wants crime to continue to rise as it has been under his watch ..

So the LAPD discovers an illegal alien during lawful contact (traffic violation, etc.) because they don't have a valid ID and it's too much of a burden to detain them for ICE to pickup?

Seems like the most economical way to deal with the problem. Unlike a wall.

No, it would be more economical to stop them at the border via a wall and other deterrants than allowing them to get into the interior of our country where we'd have the costs of rooting them out, detaining them and the court costs of deporting them.

The Wall is for the protection of the country by keeping THEM out from the get-go. A Secure Fence Act was passed in 2006 but not funded. The Wall is actually a combination of fencing, wall, electronic surveillance and increased border patrol agents.

Not only cost in dollars either, cost in lives of US citizens. Help stop the illegal drug traffic which is huge coming into our country.

Many just don't get that the Wall is to protect our country from whoever and whatever is coming through that border without authorization.

We need the Wall to hold all those millions of illegal aliens that we are going to toss back. As we know, having no respect for our laws, they continue to return to our country like they are some how "entitled".

Wish it was like that in ALL of Texas, especially here in Travis county where Austin is located. We need this not only in Texas but throughout the country.

It just amazes me how the members of our local city government, especially here in Travis county where they are FUNDING and ASSISTING these Illegal Aliens to continue to be here with TAX PAYER dollars. The city council of Austin just passed a bill to fund to support the legal defense to keep the Illegal Aliens here and the county Sherriff Hernandez is doing exactly opposite of what east Texas sheriff department is doing and creating idiotic measures to NOT assist and prevent ICE from doing their jobs. Our Mayor Adler is all in favor of sanctuary cities.

Just despicable that these members of the city and around the country are looking out for Illegal Aliens rather then the citizens of their city.

Glad our Governor Abbott and other sheriff departments in Texas along with President Trump are taking measures to do the right thing and deport these Illegal Aliens and protect their citizens.

Similar things happening in Los Angeles .. At least your governor is against sanctuary city nonsense.

In California we aren't so lucky .

This is an issue that democrats and Republicans used to agree on . The Dems have gone so far left though that they started pandering to criminals .

Congress approved $1.2 billion in a separate homeland security spending bill to bankroll the fence.
