I'm surprised that you of all people are not all over the OP demanding to know how she determined that this person was a Mexican immigrant.

Oh wait, that's right. You only protest if the "immigrant" is shown in a none too flattering light.
Note she didn't say if the woman was ILLEGAL OR LEGAL. My problem is when people determine legal status just by race, name or language without any actual evidence.

Blacknight, it seems your problem is you don't understand the difference between guidelines and CONTEXT. The CONTEXT relevant to the immigration discussion on this board and in our society (in case you haven't noticed) has to do with its impact on our society in terms of economics, cultural deterioration, and standard of living issues for Americans.

Outside of that context, we could discuss anything from the process of exchanging currency when you move from one country to
the pretty designs on different countries' passports or how to adjust to the weather as you relocate to a different climate...But, we all know that these inane topics have nothing to do the the CONTEXT of the discussion, just as the irrelevant anecdote in the original post.

That's it. Moderator Cut: Inappropriate comments

^^^ Who are you to decide what is relevant to the immigration discussion and what is not? Just give us a break.

Actually it is amazing how many of you folk do not know the defference bettween a rate and the absolute amount.

It is difficult to debate with those who don't speak the language.

My daughter Kelsey who has had a brain tumor constantly loses things. A few months ago, she accidentally threw her cell-phone in the garbage at the mall. One of the workers there (a sweet Mexican woman) searched through the garbage for it , but was unable to locate it. We went home without the cell phone.
Later that night, I received a phone call from the worker. A group of the workers had gone to the OUTSIDE garbage and searched all the bags until one of them found the phone, then this lovely woman called all of the phone numbers on it until she located me.

These are people who literally have nothing and yet they took their time to help a little girl and a mom that they did not even know. I was so touched that I cried . That is an example of the humble and gentle character of these lovely people .
So you understand Spanish and knew what she said when she called you?

some of my best friends are immmigrants, as a matter of fact, my girlfriend of three years is an immigrant from brasil.

I dont know anyone with a problem with legal immigration, I think you are confusing ILLEGAL ALIENS with LEGAL immigration...

get your facts straight and do NOT stereotype me...

I don't mind the story at all and I found it quite touching. Glad that everything worked out for her and her daughter. I think the story has as much right to be in this forum as any other immigrant, (illegal or legal), has. Thank you for the positive story.

I too, am glad that there was a good resolution to the problem and that this immigrant, legal or otherwise, was willing to go out of her way to help a stranger. The story has a good feel to it, but I still can't figure out how this woman knew the immigrant was from Mexico.

I still want to know how Nancy determined that this woman was Mexican...

How else ? Because I spoke with her . I speak fluent Spanish.

People may not recall what you said to them, but they will always remember how you made them feel .
