Interestingly enough, I can't find the author of the linked opinion article. Do you suppose the author might be reluctant to attach their name to that junk?

Those "anchor babies" will be back in the next years whether they grow up here or in Mexico with dual Citizenship. When they come back to the U.S., politicians are going to see there vote, and the Republican party might have some deep apologizing to do. You should have been in California in '94 with prop. 187 with Governor Pete Wilson, and see where the Mexican immigrant vote went. The effects have affected California Republicans big time ever since.

Remember those knuckleheads waving the Mexican flag at their protests 2 years ago?

The repercussions are still being felt.

BTW: our Employer Sanctions Law is still in force-----------and, the illegals are scattering by the day.

Only when the 14th Amendment is misinterpreted, as you have done and believe, and so many others. They are anchor babies or potluck babies. Take your pick because they are born here for one reason and one reason only.

Not like "all of us". I was born to legal United States citizens, both of whom gave complete and absolute allegiance to this country, unlike the alien mothers of these anchor babies. But that is a discussion best saved for the birthright citizenship topic.......

If the Republicans couldn't capitalize in 2006 with there main issue being illegal immigration, there going to have a really difficult time in 2008 with a million new naturalized citizens. Immigrants are very immigration sensitive, as we see with the Mexican electorate in California heavily favoring Democrats. Romney won only 12% of Latinos in Florida, while McCain won 54% of Latinos, which shows even Cuban Americans are immigration sensitive.

Frankly; being that so-called 'Latinos' are a small minority, I do not put much stock in their collective ability to change things on a national level.

Besides: many Hispanics are also anti illegal immigration.

Remember; as the economy slides deeper into recession, most employers who knowingly hire illegal immigrants will let them go first-----otherwise, citizens and green card holders will contact 1 800 DHS 2 ICE in retaliation

With there being a very equal number of Republican and Democrats in this country about 95% of the voters, Latinos and independents will decide House, Senate, and Presidential Races.

If Hispanics are anti illegal immigration, why did the Latino Electorate shift 11 percentage points from the Republicans to the Democrats favor in 2006, while white voters only 5 percentage points.
