  • ICE has known for 30 years that every time they try to force law enforcement to hold someone on an ICE detainer they are requiring that agency to break the law. ICE detainers do not meet the constitutional muster for keeping a person in jail and ICE even issued an advisory about that last year.
  • Law Enforcement personnel want to catch criminals and protect victims, something that becomes very difficult when you start asking crime victims and witnesses for their "papers" . All of a sudden they don't know who beat them up, they don't remember who fired the gun, or who molested the child because their freedom is being place in jeopardy just for talking to the Police.

It's quite clear that you do not understand what you are talking about, it would behoove you to do some research or talk to a local police officer.
We aren't talking about asking random people for papers.. we are talking about getting known criminal illegal aliens off the street .

The sheriff of LA COUNTY gets it . Is he in law enforcement ?

I have no idea what point you are trying to make. Some law enforcement officials support SB54 others oppose it, so what?

Criminal aliens should be deported, it was also Obama's policy in case you forgot, but as far as "we know where they live" Do you think they are listed in the white pages or something?

How about not enforcing road laws? The next time someone breaks into your house, don't bother to call the police because they chose not to enforce breaking and entering laws.
Who do you think you are that you can pick and choose which laws will be enforced and which laws are not going to be enforced? Any federal judge that thinks it's fine not to enforce our laws needs to be defrocked immediately.
When someone decides not to stop at a red light and almost kills you and they didn't feel like they needed to obey that law, get back to me.

You seem to be confused, there is no requirement that states enforce federal laws, immigration violations are federal, not state laws.

Zadvydas v. Davis (2001) "due process" of the 14th Amendment applies to all aliens in the United States whose presence maybe or is "unlawful, involuntary or transitory."

Almeida-Sanchez v. United States (1973) ruled that all criminal charge-related elements of the Constitution's amendments (the First, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth and the 14th) such as search and seizure, self-incrimination, trial by jury and due process, protect non-citizens, legally or illegally present.

Plylver v Doe 1982 The illegal aliens who are plaintiffs in these cases challenging the statute may claim the benefit of the Equal Protection Clause, which provides that no State shall "deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws." Whatever his status under the immigration laws, an alien is a "person" in any ordinary sense of that term.
