The major problem with immigration reform is once illegal aliens are made legal they can partition the government to allow all their relatives into the country. So 15 million being made legal will become 30-35 million or more almost over night. Can the US afford that?

You do realize its not that quick right? If they were given citizenship, its 1-2 years for children and spouses, about 6 years for the kids of over 21 and unmarried, 11-12 if married, and 15-20 years for siblings. Should they be only given greencards, most of those categories are not options.

No, that's not what I meant. I used "Citizens" in a broader term meaning anyone who is here LEGALLY. Whether they are Citizens, Legal Aliens and/or working here legally with H1B visa, although I think we should eliminate that and hire locally, but that's a different topic.

What I meant from that statement is that the Sherriff, the Mayor and the City Council members of Travis County needs to stop supporting the Illegal Aliens that are here in Travis County. Instead, they need to put their best interest and support to the LEGAL residents. It's just insanity and despicable that we even have to have this discussion due to the traitorous act these public officials are showing.

They were banned from the US for five years before they could re-apply for entry and possible citizenship.
Lots of people "appear" to be respectable but have skeletons in the closet. Some worse than others. The absolute worst part about illegal immigration is we know nothing about these people. What crimes they may have committed, what they are running from. In the Obama years a serial killer could sneak in and so long as they behaved they were good to go.

Too many major problems: $6.3 trillion taxpayer dollars, the fact that these people broke our laws and are being rewarded, that others wait decades and some will still never be able to come into the US legally, that many of these illegal aliens with the crimes would never have made the cut to come in legally, that once the current wave were legalized, more would pour in, keep wages down and all have 4 kids to try to anchor their family at taxpayer expense and on and on..................

They broke the law, they pay the price. Out!

Looks like Texas is going to penalize its sanctuary cities thanks to its senate and governor.

1-2 years is practically over night in the political scheme of things. But giving 30 million new people green cards is hardly a good idea. Where would they work? Take more jobs away from legal citizens by under cutting wages even further?
That is not a plan that is a recipe for disaster.

I see where you're coming from, to be honest there's many visa categories I'd get rid of

Immigration should always be indexed to job availability not to whims of politicians. Otherwise you have what we have now. Immigrants attracted to social services and working for cash vs paying taxes.
