LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Federal agents have arrested illegal immigrants at California courthouses because local authorities have made such apprehensions at jails difficult, the Trump administration's top two law enforcement officials told the state's chief justice, who had requested a halt to the practice.

In a letter to Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye made public on Friday, U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Department of Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly gave no indication that agents would stop the arrests.

Years ago I attended a court session and a judge told an illegal alien that the minute he would walk out of his court room he could be arrested due to be here illegally and asked the defendant if he understood. The translator for the 16 year old traffic offender who was in court for driving without a license and causing an accident, said he was aware and a few min later he walked out the door.

The judge didn't say "outside the building " but said "outside this courtroom "!

When you break the law, seriously, should there be safe spaces? I don't think so. Have we ever heard of such nonsense before this whole illegal alien disaster? Usually, apprehension of those that break our laws is applauded as this should be.

This has the potential to get out of hand. Why don't the feds seek warrants for these folks instead of setting up a confrontation with authorities? Here in NYC, the City Council is currently crafting new measures forbidding ICE agents from entering city owned property for the purpose of detaining illegal immigrants. I see another huge lawsuit.

The average knowledge of the immigration system is null. This includes judges. My family lawyer was talking once of a case she was dealing with where someone was in overstay and the judge suggested that they get "temporary citizenship" to assist them.

"Any person who encourages or induces an alien to . . . reside . . . knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that such . . . residence is . . . in violation of law, shall be punished as provided . . . for each alien in respect to whom such a violation occurs . . . fined under title 18 . . . imprisoned not more than 5 years, or both."

Aiding, abetting, harboring, encouraging illegals a felony

I DON'T see it as "confrontation".

I see it as "enforcing"

It could be asked, what are these judges "forcing a confortattion" with the federal law enforcement officials?

The LAW is VERY clear.

NYC will be in some serious trouble IF they try to enforce that kind of a law.

This shouldn't even be a conversation. Illegal immigrants are here, ILLEGALLY and laws should be enforced.
