Laws CAN be changed to make it easy to arrest any known illegal alien; then word WILL get out the US ain't playing and MOST of their kind will leave real fast.
Hopefully, we'll put a tariff on all those American dollars headed for their countries of origin to get the border secured and by the time we have tariffed the crap out of them and secured the border, we will have gathered and expelled them from our country.
Fact of life is we're cracking down on illegals now. It won't happen fast enough but I will be satisfied if we get down to half of the illegal population in Trumps 4 years. I'll be satisfied that we made a good effort.

Not a chance. More likely a few percent driven more by the Mexican economy than by ICE. And it may well go up.
Trump is doing nothing significant so far to increase outflow. Maybe scare a few into not over staying a visa but that is about it.

Trouble is what is half anymore? Official estimated number is at 11 million so that's 5.5 million. Some say it's more like 30 million. Overstay is genuinely difficult to track. Unlike student or work visas, there's no set location for a tourist. Also our entry/exit system is not fully in place. I remember reading posts on an immigration board that I'm on of K1 visa holders having a hard time when they adjusted status because their I-94 says that they left the country all because they didn't cancel their return flight and were somehow still on the manifest. To my knowledge, land exit/entry for Canadians are treated as "duration of status" and not b1/2 visa unlike entries via an airplane. It's complicated and does need to be fixed.
Let's wave a magic wand and grant legal status to everyone! because any other alternative is absurdly expensive. Illegal immigrants will go to zero and nobody will ever think of coming here again after they learn that lesson.
WHERE will you get your other big group of "Hispanic" people? I DON'T think it'd be through Mexico cause that country ain'treal happy withGuatemalans and so on crossing on Mexico's land. Too; for every Mexican who comes here, word is at least 1 goes back home.
All the MORE reason to NEVER gives those lawbreakers any kind of amnesty.
I believe that is why Mexico built a fence on their southern border.
I have gotten the statistics on those pushing for Amnesty (either Gang of Eight or Obama style Amnesty), those helping illegals with drivers licenses, education, Obamaphones, etc, those pushing for Dream Act, DACA, etc. And those helping with sanctuary cities.
I'd say conducting raids on these places and making some arrests of these groups pushing this stuff would help out a lot.
If nothing else, we can certainly boycott the bastards in the meantime.
That's why I'm boycotting Coke, Pepsi, Olive Garden, Golden Corral, etc.
