Without fail it seems like the most expensive cities are full of liiegal immigrants. If these people have no money, why do they go there and how do they live? This is true in NYC, LA, SF, Miami and so many others. By contrast you don't see many of them in a lot of low priced towns. Are they just slaves for the wealthy?

Big cities are where the jobs should be and they wouldn't need a car in theory to get to them. Also there is a support network in place for them. The ten people to a one bedroom apartment is a real phenomon. Illegal immigrants probably don't have major expenses beyond rent and the money they send back and can afford to live extremely frugally.

Default ???

How do you know they're all illegal? Having darker skin, or speaking a different language, doesn't automatically mean they're illegal and/or poor. Now if you're just asking why they have higher percentages of illegal immigrants, as compared to the rest of the country, it's like the other poster said. They go where the jobs are, and where they can stay "under the radar," I suppose.

Oh yeah, and it's also partly geographical... obviously L.A. and San Diego are convenient from Mexico, Miami from Cuba, and NYC is a popular landing-point from other areas. And if they arrive in a big city, it's unlikely they'd move out to the rural/suburban areas... at least not right away. When my ancestors arrived from Russia & Poland in the early 1900s, they settled where they landed - in New York and Philadelphia - and didn't branch out for a generation or two.

Not to worry folks....Mexico will once again cede soverignty to the U.S then all the illegals will be legal...so you can start making plans to visit the 51st state (or 52nd-depending on your view) to the union. Pina coladas anyone?

Default Follow the money

Illegals (heck, poor people in general) flock to expensive cities because that's where the money and jobs are.

Are they just slaves for the wealthy?

Pretty much. How do you think the wealthy stay wealthy? According to an article in my local paper last week, our wealthy governor, who lives in an extremely wealthy town, hired illegal Guatemalans to cut his lawn.

Default About like why folks rob banks

They go to those expensive cities because that is where the money is.

But it is also true most people do not fully understand how extensive the support networks are for them either. Many are recruited in their home countries by your fellow countrymen. In some cases they are housed in what you can only call dorms. Lots of companies in the business of using their services up to their necks.

I knew one guy that hired illegals and provided them a full set of services. In fact he could specify the exact skills wanted and get them from one particular town in Brazil. They arrive on airplanes with all necessary papers to get them into the country. They kept talking about not enough construction workers, like those who will work for $3 - 7 per hour.

So don't just blame the illegals, they are sort of doing what others make possible. When is the last time you saw the government go after those making the big profits from the illegals trade? Lot of those "Others also live in the big cities and break the law with impunity, just like the illegals they are hiring. It all has become big business, not about some poor fellow swimming some river in sunny Mexico.

With the greed of native born employers, you can not shut down the flood of illegals, they will continue to go where the money is and those that want to provide it. Start to prosecute those employing them at all levels and then you might have a foggy chance. Fat chance that will happen. Same for many other countries, it is not just a problem in the USA, Worldwide problem and it is all driven by money, greed and the desire to max out profits.

The outlaws robbed the banks because that is where the money is. Follow the money and you will find illegals at the end of the trail laid out by those wishing to profit from them.

Our liberal laws do little for illegal immigrants. Companies like them because its cheap labor for them where they only have to pay minimum wage. Minimum wage in America is a dream for those illegals who make a fraction of that in their home country. Many of them are homeless, share an apartment with several others or live in temporary shelters. They dont care, their family comes first and they send the money back to their family in their home country.

In small cities and towns, we arent tolerant of illegals and will refuse to hire any, we may arrest and deport them. In a big city, they can hide under the radar and the greedy companies will look the other way. If you arent tolerant of living with illegals then leave the city and move into a town with zero illegals. The liberals dont mind illegals and is why they stay in Miami, LA, SF, NYC, etc.

For all the reasons above, Phoenix has 3,000 illegals come here every day. Phoenix will be the next Mexico.....
