LISA DESAI: Much of the four thousand mile American border with Canada is wide open and unsecured. In the first three months of this year, a steady stream of immigrants from all over the world braved the bitter cold to reach a country where they believe there’s less risk of detention and deportation.

If any have claimed asylum or refugee they'll likely be out of luck due to safe third country agreements.

Better Canada than here. I have been at the Canada forum persuading them to take in the illegals. It's a huge country with plenty of room for more people. If they are accepted to stay in Canada, then they are no longer America's problem. It's a win for everyone.

Agreed but, Canada WILL probably deport those people.

I hope so (all my relatives are Canadians, as were my parents until becoming US citizens, and I plan to retire in North Bay, Ontario). Let's not muddy up Canada with these invaders. Gawd, why can't Mexico (especially) take care of its own people? Mexico has the resources. South America, not so much.

The illegals going to Canada would not be win for the Canadians. Imagine what it would do to their economy. From what I have read, they don't want immigrants coming for freebies, but in the spirit of our immigration laws, people that can contribute to the well-being of the country.

These people need to go back to the countries where they came from. Seriously, who wouldn't want to dump their poor on another country to take care of?
