Apparently it's harder than you think, considering veterans make up close to 10% of the incarcerated population. I'm sure PTSD is a factor for many of those cases.

US citizens; veteran or not veteran, IF they screw up badly enough, they can get locked up. NO reason to do that with any legal alien, even a veteran, strip him of his status and, deport the dude.
