Attorney General Jeff Sessions said Saturday it "makes no sense" that sanctuary cities want to fight the federal government to prevent detention of illegal immigrants.

Sessions said that voters in those areas must hold their local government accountable to keep their cities safe.

Sessions on Sanctuary City Leaders: 'We're Going to Battle Them Every Step of the Way' | Fox News Insider

Till a big wig gets hurt or killed by an illegal alien, many sanc cities will try to fight the feds till the end.

That wouldn't stop L.A., S.F., and Oakland.
The only thing that would is the mayors and police chiefs being led out in handcuffs. And even that might not in those cities.

In Los Angeles voter turnout was about 10 percent in the most recent election .
I don't see that changing much. Many people just don't understand why sanctuary cities are a bad idea .
They just think it means "Trump doesn't want immigrants here " .

Pulling the plug on Federal aid might stop them.

Most sanctuary cities will cave in when the $ stop coming in. Like the Hollywood celebrities supposedly moving to Canada, they are all talk.

Trump will have a major problem with this for his Summer White House of Trump Tower. Unlike all these other sanctuary cities, this is going to create a major backlash on all fronts. YOU have to pay for my security, AND I am cutting you off for funds being a Sanctuary City?

You cannot have your cake and eat it too, Trump. Find another weekend home. Your own New Yorkers do not want you.

Voter turnout in L.A. was shockingly low - but S.F.'s voter turnout tends to be high (42.5% in its last mayoral election) . Even Oakland which also has a huge number of poor people and immigrants like L.A. had considerably higher voter turnout in its last mayoral election in 2014 (45%)

In any case, if the feds hauled away Eric Garcetti and Charlie Beck, or Ed Lee and Bill Scott, or Libby Schaaf and Anne Kirkpatrick, for obstruction of justice, it wouldn't stop those cities. However it would stop other sanctuary cities, including the more moderate cities in California.

Trust me, they will be fighting a losing battle. Let's see if he is silly enough to TRY and remove federal funds from NYC (the #1 terrorist target in America). Jeff Sessions is a good ole boy - a relic from a longtime era. Why hasn't he talked about going after businesses who hire illegals? He prefers to target otherwise law abiding illegals instead of the businesses cheating the govt out of millions in payroll taxes.
