Yes usually when parent engage in illegal activity or generally screw up its the kids that suffer. Adults really need to think about the impact their actions may have on their children.

Suddenly, the teens' parents were gone and the Soza children faced a frightening future with foster families and unfamiliar schools.

Two thoughts:

1. We can blame two entities for this situation. The parents who knew full well that they were in this country illegally. Living and working illegally. They knew that. And they never did anything to correct that. They did this to themselves and they did this to their children. They created the mess they now find themselves in. Sentient, clear thinking adults made the decisions they made. And now those decisions are catching up with them. And not for nothin' but if your wife has already been deported maybe.........just maybe.........you might want to try and get your ducks in a row.

And we can blame this country. This country and its leaders (both sides) who did NOTHING for DECADES and who allowed this situation to continue and grow to the point we are at now. It is no wonder that they "never thought that it would actually happen".

2. Families are separated all the time. Those who commit crime and then are imprisoned for those crimes. I know plenty of people in Wyoming and Idaho who work in the oil fields of ND because that's where the high paying jobs are. Military personnel who deploy overseas five times in six years.

Families are separated and divided for any number of reasons. This particular reason is a result of the conscious decision of adults to break our laws and live and work in this country outside the law. It is what it is. And I have zero empathy or sympathy for these people.

Because the liberal open border bleeding hearts wouldn't have any thing to cry over if they were gone. You know... future votes counts.

From the article:

Experts say repercussions of traumatic experiences like the Sozas' can take a serious toll.
"The psychological effects on these children left behind include depression, possible conduct disorders, and having a constant sense of a diminishing and ambiguous future," said Dr. Luis H. Zayas, dean of the School of Social Work at the University of Texas. "No parent should be put through such an anguishing decision of whether or not to leave a child behind, but most importantly, how will these kids feel about their government when they grow up?"

------------------------------------------
Cue the violins.

If the parents didn't break our immigration laws, then they wouldn't "be put through such an anguishing decision".

How will the kids feel about the government when they grow up? A better question would be--how will the kids feel about what their parents did to them when they grow up?

Has anyone ever heard of a case where the US government actually stopped an illegal alien from taking their children to their home country? I haven't.

Also, most of what is described, those kids would suffer that anyway living the way they usually do with parents that have broken immigration law. And those SSI payments will be sent to mom and/or dad in the "home" country further making the lives of these abandoned anchor baby difficult.
