Democrat Bill Foster snatched former House Speaker Dennis Hastert's congressional seat in a closely watched special election that gave the longtime Republican district to the Democrats.
Oberweis also says he's been smeared as anti-immigrant in an anonymous flyer hitting the many Latino households in the 14th Congressional District.

Now if you check out their stances on immigration, the democrat supports CIR just like i do and the republican is a hardliner just like some of you guys are.

I do not support amnesty for those currently in our country illegally. Whether you call it "amnesty" or "a path to citizenship," a policy that allows people who are here in violation of our immigration to automatically become citizens is a policy that will encourage more people to come here in violation of our laws. It also discriminates against those who are following our laws, by moving the law-breakers to the head of the immigration line in one way or another

Do not reward those who jumped in line. Those who crossed the border illegally should be in line for citizenship behind those waiting in their home countries, and those undocumented immigrants who qualify and choose to stay in the U.S. as part of a worker-visa program should be subject to the non-citizen "Impact Fees" until such time as they may qualify for citizenship

Meeting Friday at WBBM-780 AM's Chicago studio for a taping of the "At Issue" weekly public affairs interview show, the candidates expressed opposition to amnesty for illegal immigrants. Foster, a Democrat, proposed taxing both employers who hire illegal immigrants and illegal immigrants themselves when they apply for citizenship.
"An important part of the solution here is when you establish a worker program for the people that are here outside the law, that there should be impact fees associated with this … that represent the true burden that these workers place on our schools, on our police, on our health care system," Foster said.
After the debate, Oberweis, a Republican, called Foster's plan an "amnesty tax" and said legalizing the hiring of illegal immigrants will only serve to encourage more immigrants to come here illegally.
"That's going to cause the problem to become even worse," he said

I am not pro illegal immigrant, i am for workable and rational solutions to this complex problem.

I'll say it again, I think everybody should be allowed to pick and choose which laws they will obey and which can be willfully ignored, that way it's fair for everyone.
