Doesn't say why the cop was fired.

A transit officer has absolutely no business asking immigration status until they grant them the authority to do so. Not his business, not his place. Those are the rules at present. He has consequences just like the man deported

Asking the immigration status is a fireable offense? It sounds like it should be more of a slap on the wrist. Of course if there was unwarranted physical violence by the cop then yes fire him but not for merely asking the guys status.

What is next not being able to ask a drug dealer if he has any weapons, needles or drugs in his pockets?
How about asking an obviously underage kid with a 6 pack of beer in his hand for some ID to prove he is 21+ ?

Why does the PC Left insist on tying one hand behind the backs of our first line of defense the Police?

Will we soon see a day when the police sit in their patrol cars and observe crimes and only emerge to pick up the pieces and file a report out of fear of being fired or the city/town being sued ?

I would not want to be a cop.

If the cop had shot him, he wouldn't get fired. It's only when asking someone their immigration status that gets them fired.

Uh, yes he does have business. mail tampering is a federal offense, yet police will question people and report to the feds if they have probable cause and the cop had probable cause.

Their own organization has said that they are not trained to handle immigration issues. The right decision was made.
