At the same time, arrests of suspected undocumented immigrants nationwide without criminal convictions exploded, more than doubling since last year.

“ICE agents and officers have been given clear direction to focus on threats to public safety and national security,” acting ICE Director Thomas Homan said when the numbers were released. “However, when we encounter others who are in the country unlawfully, we will execute our sworn duty and enforce the law.”

Some undocumented immigrants who are "very violent, dangerous career criminals" with long arrest records are getting deported. | Miami Herald

That's how it needs to be done: arrest ANY known illegal alien on sight. Period.

It is there job to enforce immigration laws, therefore if they come in contact with any illegal during the course of their work day, then they too need to be arrested and hopefully deported asap.

The more I read of illegals being deported, the happier it makes me about Trump being our president. Go Trump

These people are trying to sow fear into the hearts of law abiding illegals but it WON'T work. The majority of Americans stand steadfast with law abiding illegals. We will fight them in the courts, in the streets and everywhere until we achieve a just and reasonable victory. Public opinion is for immigration reform.

Law abiding illegals??
#1 they broke the law by sneaking in or overstaying their visa.
#2 if they are working anything but under the table jobs where did they get their social security number?
Are we talking identity theft?

The Libs are ridiculous but then again they are the ones who willingly give rioting protesters "room to destroy" .

SO I guess they are asking the ICE agents to over look an illegal that is caught in their net as a by catch to the criminals they are targeting ?

For you legal eagles:

The defendant, native to Mexico, moved to the USA with his parents in 2000. He became a lawful permanent resident.

In 2009, when he was 20 years old, he pled 'no contest', in a California court, to the charge of having sex with his 16 year old girlfriend; it was not, per se, 'statutory rape', but 'unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor who is more than three years younger than the perpetrator'.

The US Department of Homeland Security, under Obama, then began deportation proceedings. An immigration judge upheld deportation, saying that the defendant was guilty of 'sexual abuse of a minor'.

On appeal (still in immigration), upheld, with that court saying that defendant was guilty of an aggravated felony. Appealed to Federal Court of Appeals: refused to review.

The Supreme Court: reversed.

U.S. Supreme Court protects Mexican immigrant from deportation - UPI.com

From the linked article:

"But the U.S. Supreme Court overruled those decisions on Tuesday, saying that the conviction did not qualify as "sexual abuse of a minor" because Esquivel-Quintana's girlfriend was 16 at the time of the incident.

Because the U.S. Supreme Court said the offense was not clearly defined in the federal Immigration and Nationality Act, Esquivel-Quintana does not have to face deportation.

"If those acts do not constitute sexual abuse of a minor under the INA, then petitioner was not convicted of an aggravated felony and is not, on that basis, removable."

If one desires to read the actual opinion of the Court:

Interesting indeed.

Once again, the term "law abiding illegals" is an oxymoron. Ponder that.

How many illegals have you taken into your home?

Law abiding bank robber? Law abiding rapist? Law abiding murderer? Law abiding arsonist? Law abiding illegal? All have committed unlawful acts, therefore, they are not "law-abiding". It does matter if they were "otherwise" law abiding, they still must be held responsible for not being law abiding.
