Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck told Democratic senators Thursday that increased random enforcement of immigration laws has caused fewer people to call 911, report crimes and come forward as witnesses.

Legal aliens don't have to worry, so I don't see the problem. LA Times: I think you meant to say "illegal aliens".

If there are no calls to report the crime how does the sheriff know there were witnesses?

Could it also be there are fewer illegals to commit crimes, thus leading to fewer crimes needing to be called in to 911.

I suspect a recent crime in this area was reported by an illegal, I don't believe the police did anything to the caller.

LAPD does not enforce immigration laws, so he is lying.

Here is Orange County Sheriff Hutchens explaining why this bill is bad.

They'll be even safer if the City of Los Angeles de-funds its police department and closes up shop. Witnesses will be more willing to come forward and report crimes to the county sheriff since that is an elected official.

If you were a illegal alien and was robbed or assaulted would you report your misfortune to the police?

Example: a couple years ago I was hit in a parking lot by, what appeared to me an illegal alien, he got out of his car and started yelling about the damage to his car and wanted me to pay damages...when I said we should call the police and/or the border patrol to report the accident, he jumped back into his car and drove quickly away.
