APPLETON — A 54-year-old woman who has lived in the United States since arriving as a child with her Hungarian immigrant parents has recently learned she is not a U.S. citizen.
Given Frank's circumstances — she was born in 1953 and was a minor when her parents became naturalized — Sesini said he would argue she is a U.S. citizen
Frankly; this woman got a raw deal IMHO. Her parents came here legally as political refugees after the Hungarian Revolution of 1956------and, her parents got their citizenship.
Hungarian here for 54 years, no problem cut her a green card.
And; I am 1/2 Hungarian, my dad was born/raised there, played 'illegal immigrant' in what is now Germany in the late 1940's (actually, has was a DP, Displaced Person) then was able to secure a sponsor to come here legally in 1951
That same thing happened to a friend of mine who lost her SS# card. She has lived and worked in the US for 54 years, brought here from Germany after the war.
After an employer told her they needed a copy of here SS card, she realized it was lost. She called SS office to obtain new card and found out she is not a citizen. Go figure, and look at all the help the illegals get. What a way to treat someone who owns a home and has been paying taxes for this long. She did get a green card, but why not make them a citizen? Same thing, parents didn't fill out proper paper work a long time ago.

I will admit that maybe there should be an 'amnesty' for those folks here more than 25 years illegally------provided they 'flew under the radar' and avoided all trouble during that time.
Yea.. what the heck? What about the Reagen Amnesty?
