I have never understood why sanctuary city mayors expect American's to follow the law when they are harboring fugitives.

The law is clear as a whistle that harboring is a felony punishable by up to 5 years in prison.\

These sanctuary city mayors, sheriff's and sheriff's deputies are certainly harboring fugitives by ignoring ICE detainers.

They do not release people who have committed crimes and have warrants out for their arrest. You should actually read what "sanctuary city" policies are.

Have you read federal law? Encouraging/Inducing illegal aliens to reside unlawfully in the US also carries the same prison sentence. And that's exactly what "sanctuary cities" are doing. The DOJ needs to start prosecuting and imprisoning the "sanctuary city" officials.

Encouraging/Inducing -- Subsection 1324(a)(1)(A)(iv) makes it an offense for any person who -- encourages or induces an alien to come to, enter, or reside in the United States, knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that such coming to, entry, or residence is or will be in violation of law.

Conspiracy/Aiding or Abetting -- Subsection 1324(a)(1)(A)(v) expressly makes it an offense to engage in a conspiracy to commit or aid or abet the commission of the foregoing offenses.

...With regard to violations of 8 U.S.C. § 1324(a)(1)(ii)-(iv) and (v)(ii), domestic transportation, harboring, encouraging/inducing, or aiding/abetting, the basic statutory maximum term of imprisonment is 5 years, unless the offense was committed for commercial advantage or private financial gain, in which case the maximum term of imprisonment is 10 years.

I agree with OP and it mind boggling that these representatives get away with so much.

Exactly. The average citizen gets a nasty fine and points off their license for the smallest thing, like an illegal u-turn, but these elected officials get away with organized crime that is RIGHT IN OUR FACE.

They rob the tax payer to the tune of $113 billion a year and should be held accountable.

They all should go to jail. They are breaking the law but they believe they are above everyone. B.S. !
