About Time!

Quote:
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is prepared to criminally prosecute illegal immigrants in the workplace, as well as those employers who hire them.

"While we focus on the criminal prosecution of employers who knowingly hire illegal workers, under the current administration's enforcement priorities, workers encountered during these investigations who are unauthorized to remain in the United States are also subject to administrative arrest and removal from the country," ICE spokeswoman Danielle Bennett said in an email to the Washington Examiner.

This week, acting ICE Director Thomas Homan said his agency will increase workplace immigration enforcement effort four to five times the level current.

According to Bennett, that includes pursing more investigations and "conducting more I-9 audits."

An I-9 form is used for verifying the identity and employment authorization for someone to be hired to work in the U.S.

Data provided to the Washington Examiner shows that from Feb. 9, 2016, to June 24, 2017, ICE arrested 42 people in management and 55 people in non-management for criminal immigration violations, and all but 15 were indicted and convicted. The highest amount in the past few years was in fiscal 2011 under former President Barack Obama, when ICE arrested 221 people in management and 492 in non-management, for a total of 713 -- there has been a relative steady decline in the years following.
ICE to target employers who hire illegal immigrants

I am really anxious to see the workplace raids in full swing. I know they used to hit the city I am in, but haven't in years!

I read they were going to "quadruple" workplace crackdowns!

As illegals go out, wages will have to go up to attract workers. Observing shows me those that hire illegals routinely pay about 1/3 to 1/2 less per hour. This will also help keep American dollars in America as $26 billion is sent out by non-citizens, mostly to Mexico. This really hurts our local economies when the dollars aren't spend at "home" but in the home of the illegal alien where hopefully we will be delivering them sooner than later. Win-win for US citizens!

What do you think about this strategy, conservatives? Didn't you all, in another life, worship employers and the boss classes in general? How could you stand for "business as usual" to be impeded in any way?

AnywhereElse mentions a potential wage jump for citizen workers. What do you think about that?
Fair pay in the pockets of our citizen workers; why it's unheard of, outside of Silicon Valley. What if the absence of illegal workers causes union membership to rise; wouldn't that be a kick in the pants?

You can't have it both ways, kiddies.

What it's called is letting market forces decide instead of subsidizing it through illegal immigration, and then back-handed benefits given back to them, and also a lot of the income leaking out of the US through remittances.

Our immigration policies should be upheld, and then, if more labor is needed, implement a strict guest worker program with teeth.

I'm tagged as "conservative" in 2017 AND I've wanted ILLEGAL aliens deported, regardless of their "race" for more than 10 years now.

1. Where do you get the idea that Conservaties think employers should be allowed to break the law?

2. Most Conservatives don't have any issues with unions as long as participation is voluntary

You're confusing "Republicans" with "Conservatives".... there are the big business conservatives, and there's the populist conservatives.

But...having it both ways? Is that like liberals claiming we need to end poverty, expand healthcare, expand the social safety net.... AND continue to take in millions of new impoverished people and accept illegal immigration at millions more each year? THAT kind of "having it both ways?"

Not potential wage increase, for sure. We have 55,000 illegal alien workers in the State of Kansas. The 2010 taxpayer cost of illegal aliens in my state was $442 million, imagine with each fertile female pushing out the "magic 4" anchor babies how that cost has soared! Believe me, we can use that $442 million in much better ways than subsiding illegal aliens. Illegals flooded our area as the candidates talked amnesty. You could see the influx just going out to the local stores.

I support unions to a certain degree. My father worked in a factory in Michigan when I was a child, and from that I came to understand the good part of what a union brought to an employee. The movie "Norma Rae" comes to mind: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norma_Rae Sadly with the influx of illegal alien workers who are unable to complain about violations of health and safety codes in the workplace, dangers abound yet again as we slip into 3rd world conditions brought to us by illegal aliens.

I find the whole believing that only Conservatives support the laws of our country rather amusing and reeking of ignorance. I never, ever voted for a GOP Presidential candidate until 2016. I support "nationalism".

I follow the laws and expect everyone else to follow them. And, I don't make exceptions for myself and pick and choose which laws to obey, it isn't like I'm Hillary Clinton!
