Some people are saying that DACA recipients broke the law when they came over the border, and should be given the usual punishment for anyone who breaks those laws. Even those who were maybe 6 months old when they were carried across he border in their mothers' arms.
I say we should not be so harsh. How can you punish someone who was a little baby when he "committed his crime"? Or even someone who was 5 years old?
How about this compromise?
A guy who was 6 months old when his parents carried him across the border illegally, is now 20 years old and working for a construction company. Should he be punished for stealing 20 years in the US, which technically he did?
I say No.
OK, Charlie, your first 20 years living illegally in a much better country, the United States, are on the house. No punishment. That's a lot more benefit than people who obeyed the law and didn't cross the border 20 years ago, will get.
No charge for your (illegally) enjoying the liberty of the United States, which is far more liberty than your compatriots who obeyed the law ever got. You're still here illegally, so NOW back you go. If you are disturbed over going to live in a country you've almost never set foot in, take it up with your parents, who deliberately and knowingly put you in that situation. What did they intend for you to do, when ICE finally caught up with you and LEGALLY busted you?
You can apply for a visa just like everyone else who wants to come here. The good news is, your illegal residence will NOT be held against you, unlike people who deliberately violated US law and walked across the border (or overstayed a visa) as adults. You will be approved just as quickly as people who never violated US law, even though you have 20 years in the US that they never got.
The deportation bus leaves at noon. Be on it, or else the above 20-year amnesty is cancelled.
Maybe they should be voting (they do vote, let's be real) in people who actually give a crap about them instead of people pretending to give a crap for their vote?
Apparently Trump cared more about them than Pelosi, Schumer and the rest of the schlub posers.

I say if they provide info leading to perm deportation of all adults who brought them, offer a pathway to stay legally w/o citizenship. We often give those who rat criminals out deals.

we do not punish them as children.... the "d" in daca stands for deferred, not exempted
the issue is they are no longer children, the deferment is over
if they want to stay in the country, they need to go through the same legal route everyone else does
students get student visa, workers apply for work visa, business owners have investor visa, "couples" get married and get fiancee visa or whatever it is called, or serve the country in the military
I don't have a problem with the DACA people staying if they are working along and contributing to our society but if they are in prison they should be shipped out.
I would say give them 10 years to get their green cards and then 5 more to become citizens.
The problem is their parents that are still in the country illegally. What happens to them?
This of course is all a mute point the day a Dem takes the White House because they will just hand amnesty to the DACA people plus millions of others not to mention laying out the red carpet for that caravan of people that are making their way through Mexico.
The Dems refused to work with Trump but they will work on their own when he is gone.

What could be more reasonable a compromise?
I disagree. By not making these DACAs go back to their homeland and apply to come back legally it is rewarding their parents for bringing them here illegally and sets a presidence that all you have to do is drag your kids over the border and they will be home free.
How is a DACA working construction or any other job unless they are using a fake or stolen SS number or unless they were given a work permit by the Obama administration? When they turned 18 1/2 they were responsible for their own status in this country.
Another thing is we don't need the added competition for jobs and resources from 1.8 million DACAs. Are you aware that they are demanding that their law breaking parents get to remain here also crying about the separation of families? If they got their way that would mean amnestying millions more illegal aliens. No, IMO they all need to be deported either voluntarily or involuntarily.
He's a stranger to that country. He's learned to walk and talk like someone born here. He knows no other place.
Most DACAs came here after the age of 6 so they knew their own country. They also know the language of their homeland as it was taught to them by their parents. We cannot allow anyone to remain here illegally just because they may blend into our country our immigration laws don't take that into account nor should they. I'm sure many of the DACAs still have family back in their homelands and people often move all over the world and they adapt.
