Actually,
illegals are not a major source of the deficit-that's an exaggeration.
Just like the notion that public services/ welfare are a huge source of the deficit-once again, a huge exaggeration.
The 2 main causes of our deficit are:
1. The slowing economy has slowed the taxable revenue the state has been able to collect.
2. CA pays $290 Billion in taxes to DC each year, and in return, they shortchange CA to the tune of $50 Billion in annual spending so bridges to nowhere can be built elsewhere.
Social benefits of the US (all the govt programs as well as public schools, etc) are funded by taxes paid by citizens. Now to be PC the US has allowed these benefits to be used by folks here illegally and those numbers have increased dramatically over the years. Someone has to pay for those benefits. Did the states just think $$$ would magically appear to cover them ?

As far as California, I know for a fact that these are insignifant amounts of money compared to what we pay for public education and law enforcement.
A few billion(5B max out of a state budget over 110B) is not a lot to pay to feed the poor and help them get toothbrushes and toilet paper...and as a good Christian I think its my duty to help my fellow man

As a christians we should help our fellowman not rely on governmant to do it.The assistance given by government is not in the name of any religion and christains can not shirk their person responsiblity;IMO.

One of the Ten Commandments states: 'Thou Shalt Not Steal'------being in a country illegallyis theft IMHO.
Besides: using Mexico as an example; their government/big business have the 'Christian' obligation to help their own downtrodden citizens.
