Troops at the border can't engage migrants. They have nothing to do, except put up some barbed wire here and there for photo ops.

It's a very costly political stunt. Mattis knows it, the Pentagon knows it, and many of the troops there know it.

"The New York Times reported last week on the experiences of the troops stationed at Base Camp Donna in Texas, where access to electricity and water are limited, there is no air-conditioning, and many of those stationed there realize they’ll miss Thanksgiving with their loved ones.

The article added, “Two thousand miles away, at the Pentagon, officials privately derided the deployment as an expensive waste of time and resources, and a morale killer to boot.”"
You must be the same type of fool that say "walls dont work"...

Well, from looking at the recent footage. They do work. Its not a political stunt. Mexicans in Tijuana are already becoming over whelmed .

Yeah. What would those would-be infiltrators sit on if not a wall? Do Lefties think they will just sit in teh sand?

Evidently the "Walls Don't Work" (NeverWallers?) crowd thinks that a line in the sand will work. They pretend to not remember the other famous red line that Obama drew, and "cannot remember" how effective that line was.
Well, "Disrememberers", it wasn't effective at all. And people died.

A border without barriers is useless.

Soldiers don't complain because they don't have air conditioning. Are you kdding me? Many of them fought and lived in Iraq in sandstorms under abominable conditions. Strolling the banks of Rio Grande is a vacation.

Congress needs to immediately pass a law enabling the troops to engage with migrants so they have more to do.

There are threads on C-D about Beto giving money to the migrants. He got money from liberal elites all over the country.

Regarding Soros...

Pueblos Sin Fronteras is the main group involved in the caravan - which is a Soros affiliate through other front groups.

Then here's this from Soros himself on Twitter in 2016...

I think a lot of us understand that if you have watchful troops at point A, then the Border Patrol can be freed up to do other things - like at Tijuana, where there are oodles of border jumpers just waiting.

Most illegals do not want to get caught; that's why they enter at unguarded points. If the military needs to just follow along in a Humvee, that's fine. Give them water, even. Keep the illegals in view until the CBP can take charge.

Yes the troops do get paid regardless of what they're doing, but it costs millions of taxpayer dollars to move them, house them, feed them, and move all of the equipment.

Third world coward baby waving losers? Wow. Your prejudice and hate is showing. So is your ignorance on how much tax payer money is being spent moving these troops, but go ahead, focus on your myopic simple minded rhetoric for a very complex issue.

Read about the international migrant crisis. Brookings reports that there are 6.5 million people displaced abroad or within their own borders. In 2015 1 out of 113 people worldwide are either asylum seekers, refugees, or internally displaced. Those numbers are staggering.

There were 860,000 refugees resettled in the United States after 9/11. These people were heavily vetted and only 3 people were convicted of terrorism related charges. None of the plots were successful. While 15% of the general work force is staffed by immigrants, 25% are entrepreneurs, and over one third of new firms have at least one immigrant entrepreneur in leadership.

How many migrants have crossed our border to the south vs how many have come by plane or ship? We have laws which say that anyone can apply for asylum. What is Trump doing to change those laws? Stoking the fires of hate with build that wall rhetoric?

Like it or not, people who are desperate will continue to come here looking for safety and a better life. Our laws state that they have the right to do so. Spewing hate generates fear, and fear makes good people think and do awful things. This is not the answer.
If you want change, vote someone in that will change the laws. Trump wants to fix a cut artery with a wall that won't stop anything but the animals. Human traffickers will explode and profit. Yep build that wall.

Someone commented on the troops not being able to have Thanksgiving while serving on our southern border. Really? I'm sure they'll be taken care of, because I can't see the nearby community or even the leaders down there not do something. It's about morale.

I just glimpsed an article. I don't know about the rest of the border, but here in the Houston, TX area we had an early freeze this week, along with a lot of rain. Temps will be in the upper 70's low 80's and down to the mid 50's at night along the TX border. Look it up. Those troops, at least in Texas are going thru weather that is tolerable.

Let California deal with them, after all it was California that thought S.B. 1070
was enough to boycott Arizona

If you rob a bank in a Sanctuary City, is it illegal or is it just an Undocumented Withdrawal
