Crooks can thrive in those areas; not because the crooks are illegals, but because illegals themselves are seen as valuable targets.

Illegals often carry cash and are very reluctant to report to the police. Crooks can swoop on illegals like hawks onto mice.

A U.S. Border Patrol entry Identification Team site was overrun Wednesday night along Arizona's border with Mexico.

According to the Border Patrol, an unknown number of gunmen attacked the site in the state's West Desert Region around 11 p.m. The site is manned by National Guardsmen. Those guardsmen were forced to retreat.

The Border Patrol will not say whether shots were fired. However, no Guardsmen were injured in the incident.

The Border Patrol says the incident occurred somewhere along the 120 mile section of the border between Nogales and Lukeville. The area is known as a drug corridor. Last year, 124-thousand pounds of illegal drugs were confiscated in this area.

The Border patrol says the attackers quickly retreated back into Mexico.

It is the wealthier people who tend to be more liberal because they don't have to deal with the ramifications of all of this. I guess I would fall mildly into that camp. I can afford to live in a very nice town, where I won't have to deal with this type of stuff, and am planning on moving to such a community in New Jersey. But the fact is, I am not super wealthy so I won't be shielded from it entirely. I don't have drivers and personal assistants, I have to interact with all types of people. The upper middle class people need to wise up and realize that it affects them too. First of all, the taxes I pay subsidize illegals. Secondly, don't you think that I would rather deal with and spend my hard earned money on Americans or people who are here legally? What ever happened to assimilation? These illegals just come here for money, have no interest in America or our culture. Before you label me a racist, let me tell you I am not even fully white, I am mixed race and first generation American on one side. Race isn't the important factor. It isn't even being American. I lived in other countries and have travelled quite extensively. Whereever I go I respect the country and culture that I am in and try to learn from the locals. I respect my foreign heritage but am very thankful that I am American. Where else can you come with no money in your pocket and if you work hard and strive to better yourself, become rich? Not many places, that is for sure. My family is grateful to be in America and to be Americans, did it legally and had great pride in this. There is no pride in being a criminal. Illegals are criminals.

While driving to work today, I heard on the radio that Arizona passed Proposition 300 with an overwhelming majority vote. Now illegals will have to pay out-of-state tuition costs (over $16,000) rather than the over $4,000 they're paying now for in-state tuition fees. Hmmm! I wonder if they're even getting that for free.

I gathered from the talk show to which I was listening, they're not too happy about that. Gee, it's only fair. Duh!!

Good job, AZ!!

Default Interesting

Carolina native,

You can state your opinion but please don't imply that I have "never lived among them" and thus don't know how it really is with illegal immigrants. I have lived in a city with a huge illegal population and I associated with some. So I know of their struggles, the crime, the slavery, and the isolation that they feel.
While any illegal who participates willingly in crime needs to promptly be deported, I generally feel for those "sin papeles."

How is not wanting ILLEGAL immigrants here defined as BIGOTRY to you? I have nothing against Hispanics or any other race, for that matter. I have a problem with people who don't follow our LAWS. No offense, but I really do not want more people here who are not capable of following the rules. We have a difficult time as it is with our American citizens!

There is absolutely NO bigotry involved. I love Hispanics and am intriqued by a lot of their culture. But please, give Americans respect and do it LEGALLY!

This seems like a liberal-leaning forum, so I'll be prepared for attacks!!

I hear many Americans are moving to the coast of Mexico.. Im not sure how, as I was told Americans can not own land in Mexico.. is this tue?

When I went to Mazatlan, I was shocked. Every place we went the locals spoke English.. We tried to speak Spanish the best we could, but found out we didn't have too. Seems this is the case at most of the coastal cities in Mexico. I should also mention I was 16 when my Family went.. that was over 15 years ago. I also noticed the people were different than the ones I see here on the border, and the spanish was also different. I cant explain it.

How come nobody ever gets a proposition to build a fence in those states? I don't get it, cause I'm sure that it would pass.

Excellent question. I'm all for it and should we ever get so lucky to vote for such a proposition, Texas has my vote. I'm sick of the whole mess!!
