Yeah, the only problem is everyone and their mother is now claiming "asylum" because they know it's a backdoor to circumvent.

Under the old "catch and release" system, a full 80% of people never show up for their subsequent asylum hearings. Which means they weren't legitimate in the first place and not genuine refugees or asylum seekers.

So you really can't separate the two issues. The "asylum" system is broken and being used by illegal immigrants (intending to break law and overstay is a illegal immigration) to sucker the system and abuse the good will of America.

A Mexican-American Trump voter vacations in Honduras every year because he said it's paradise. Interestingly, he is often discriminated against for his Mexican heritage because many Hondurans are discriminated against by Mexicans

He said very poor people can live in a hammock and have fruit on the trees and fish in the sea but they want iPhones and money so want to come to the US -- they told him this.

Many New Zealanders and Aussies retire there. You can get a beach house for $100K. Everyone knows the bad areas to avoid like they do in every US city.

Indeed. Much of Latin America has advanced tremendously over the past two decades.

But, lilly white American liberals are so damned patronizing and have such a savior complex that they just see "brown" person = poor. Or, "Latin America = Poor."
