The Wall was and continues to be a joke. and an expensive waste of tax money .

Here is the thing, if one is fleeing another country due to extreme conditions (warfare, poverty, living conditions) ...Coming to america may be their last ditch effort to survival.

I'm composed of 50% Left brain and 50% Right brain, so I understand the LOGIC to curtail and re organize how to moderate the influx of immigration. I also understand from a compassion side the necessary actions and desperation of a person or family seeking refuge. But fear Not, the POTUS is really making this decision so much easier for the citizens. Lets just move out of this country ourselves and let him carry on ...as he is very good at carrying on so to speak...

tbf- the usa Knows and KNEW that the farming , construction , and restaurant business's utilized immigrants. the usa KNEW and turned a blind eye. It was our dirty little secret we kept . So if you want to suddenly be horrified that immigration ( illegal) has hit the POTUS as a Contention its because He likes to rattle cages of certain industries to get a reaction.

Why would we take down the Statue of Liberty when we allow in over 1 million legal immigrants a year? Are you unaware that the overwhelmingly number of legal immigrants are Latinos and Asians not white people? We have had to limit immigration compared to hundreds of years ago when we were sparsely populated with plenty of jobs and resources for everyone. That's not true today.

The wall is not a joke. We have a right to protect our country and its citizens from overpopulating our country where our social and natural resources are dangerously depleted and jobs become scarce for our own citizens. There is also the criminal and terrorist element to consider with open borders. The walls in place already have helped deter unlimited and unwanted entry into our country. Walls are not too expensive when you consider how much illegal aliens cost us every year.

We have no obligation to take in immigrants based on their economic needs or violence in their countries. The only obligation we have is to allow them asylum if they are being "persecuted" in their countries based on their political, religious, etc. beliefs. The citizens of other countries need to fight to make their own countries better and we already give their governments aid to help their own citizens.

Yes, our government has been negligent by allowing illegal aliens to get into our country and take once good paying blue collared jobs from Americans but we aren't going to stand for it anymore. We have plenty of Americans to do any job for a fair wage it's just that the greedy employers want cheap, illegal labor instead and they aren't "immigrants". As for farm jobs there already are unlimited visas for legal, foreign workers.

Why take down the whole statue? The only thing you need to do is remove the poem. However, I see no reason to do so, and no connection between it and the wall.

No statue nor any poem negates our immigration laws that are on the books today.

That is simply untrue.

There are no properly funded laws on the books that will enforce our immigration laws. Resources are insufficient for the task by an order of magnitude at least.

And we have no intention of funding at the level needed to enforce them.

Nor do we intend to structure eVerify or similar at a level that would actually make employment very difficult for the illegal alien. And such a solution will most likely fail as the illegals move to the gray market.

So there is no enforcement option. Te only one we have is to legalize enough illegal aliens to make the problem manageable. Or wait a few more years until it grows big enough that we do so.

The entire campaign against the illegal aliens is all silliness...praying for an impossible solution.
