It was a bit deceptive and hostile, but so is life.
I really don't think Mexicans want the Southwest back, it already has a Spanish flavor, Spanish Named cities and Roads, Spanish food. Regardless of what some extreme groups say I don't think the majority of mexicans really care about it being under the Mexican government, the Mexican government would probably mess it up anyway.
I do think that Mexico has a moral right to the Southwest, and that it should be returned to their custody next week, at the latest. I think that Russia has a moral claim to Alaska, too. Great Britain should get the Pacific Northwest AND the eastern seaboard. Florida should be returned to Spain, the Mississippi Basin to France, Delaware should belong to Sweden, and New York City to Holland.
Let's just disband the whole failed experiment, give it back to its 'proper' owners, and then we'll sit by and watch THEM explain why THEY stole it from the Indians. THIS could get interesting!!!

Better yet: 'return' our Southwest to Spain.
Although; I will bet that with 5 years most of the present day illegal (Hispanic) immigrants would flee----------back to present day Mexico.
I have heard from several Mestizo Hispanics who have actually visited Spain---------they were not made to feel welcome there due to them not being 'White'.
BTW: with the possible exception of Russia--------all of the above listed countries would probably say no thanks.
Ever since Europe lost/granted their large colonies..........Spain, Portugal, France, etc. have prospered greatly.

That is just alarmists views..trying to give substance to your guys' irrational fears.
Mexicans may believe the land was stolen from them, and yeah, maybe it was forced from them, but it happened a long time ago, and no mexicans realistically think the land is gonna be taken back....the only ones who believe that is anti-immigrant xenophobes.
Activists just bring the fact up, to show the irony of how so called "real" Americans insist this is their country and immigrants have no right to be here, when Mexicans were here first.
But dont worry..theres no militant plans to take it back...lol
