If we had real journalist they would repeatedly ask the open borders crowd about what they said or supported only a few years ago, but we no longer have real journalist so they are allowed to openly lie and obfuscate if they have a D or a GOPe behind their name.

The Obama admin sent VP Joe Biden to Central America to make it clear illegal children are not eligible for a path to citizenship and may be subject to deportation. Biden will meet with government leaders from Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras amid an influx of tens of thousands of children crossing into the US, many traveling alone.

Biden will emphasize that illegal immigration is unsafe and that newly arriving children are not eligible for earned citizenship in the U.S. “ The bottom line is that it’s not worth subjecting children to a perilous journey when at the end of the day there is no light at the end of the tunnel.” Biden would make it clear that “unaccompanied immigrant minors are still going through removal proceedings, just like anyone that crosses the border without proper documentation.”

An estimated that 60,000 of the children could cross the border this year 2014). Over 24,000 unaccompanied children crossed the border in 2013. The crisis has exceeded the capacity and resources of patrol stations in Texas, and some Central American immigrants have been flown to Phoenix, Ariz., for temporary lodging. The official called the surge of “great concern,” noting that some have become the victim of violent crime and sexual abuse. Some are under 12 and many are girls.

Arizona Sens. John McCain and Jeff Flake wrote to Obama, asking him to “send a clear message to those seeking to enter the U.S. illegally.”

Neither Centrist left Obama, nor Centrist left Biden support "open borders." But Central America has a lot of USA military basis for which we promised Asylum and such if they stupidly joined the UN (they should have studied the history of the US colonizers with the Native Americans).

NOR any great minority of Extreme leftists (pardon my French) supports "open borders."
They want us to somehow handle promised refuges while we were not even able to handle a for-oil-profit war.

Also, the Democratic party is older than the Republican party. The Republican party followed the death of the Know-Nothings and the Whigs.

The Republican's had control of the house for the last four years of Obama's presidency and for two years into the Trump's presidency. Obama asked Congress to pass a law for immigration reform and it was ignored. Just as it was for the first two years into Trump's presidency. Why? Obama put up a barrier, people walked around it. It won't stop people from flooding the border asking for asylum. This problem has continued for years with no internal resolution. Just a band aid wall on a flood of desperate, hungry people.
