They can say whatever they want. They have no way to make the determination.
They can ask for proof of citizenship. This is not illegal so long as they ask it of everybody. I bet that is how it is done in the 32 states that dont give in state tuition to illegal aliens.
That's correct, no illegals vote. But there are LOTS of legal hispanics with relatives here illegally and more still south of the border who want to come into the US. Using the cartels is too risky though.
So when the Dems say they're fine with open borders, sanctuary cities and work against ICE, most of the Hispanics continue vote for whoever the DNC nominee is for obvious reasons.
I've worked with MANY legal Hispanics here in Southern California for the past 20+ years. Most of them still have cousins, aunts & uncles that want to come to the US for better living conditions and jobs.
The Democrats do not want to lose those currently voting for them. That was the whole idea behind sanctuary cities. It keeps many Hispanics very happy.
Both parties do things and have policies that are meant to appeal to some demographic. For example, most of the republicans aren't really against abortion; they just pretend to be to appease the fundamental Christians. That's just politics.

There are so many worse problems in our country, among them, the fact that the vast majority of violent acts in the US are committed by US citizens. Being an American citizen does not necessarily make a person good.
In-state tuition is subsidized by state and local taxes paid by residents. Undocumented immigrants that reside in a state are paying state income tax, property tax, sales tax, etc. Immigration status is irrelevant.
Citizens living in other states have not contributed a penny to offset the subsidy they are asking to receive.

The only problem comparable to illegal immigration is legal immigration.

Illegal aliens? Forget about them, look over there instead.
Even 1 murder or 1 rape by an illegal alien is 1 too many. There is nothing you can do to ahead of time to prevent citizens from committing these crimes. But you can prevent illegals from committing these crimes, merely by upholding THE LAW. They have no right to be here.
When a judge lets someone who is guilty of a crime go free, and they go on to murder someone, that person’s death was due to a failure of our system. When an illegal alien commits a murder, that person’s death is, likewise, a failure of our system. It is our responsibility to fix the system so these failures dont continue.
Actually, the truth is that the Democrats are pandering to their ethnocentric citizen base who are demanding amnesty for their illegal amigos and open borders for their ethic group. Of course down the line if these illegals are given a path to citizenship they also will be future Democrat voters. It's all in the plan. It's all about power and votes not what is best for the majority of our citizens and our country.

I hear this a lot, but it seems like the republicans that want them here for business reasons is a small minority of republicans, while the average democratic voter is for policies that promote them being here and having more come in.
So in reality, the republican voter is against the policies of their corporate wing, while the democratic voters are FOR the policies of THEIR corporate wing.
Ironic, huh?
