We absolutely do not need a bunch of freeloaders moving here. If they don't want it badly enough to sign up for classes that they themselves pay for, then let them stay home where they belong.

There are plenty of people who want to come here, and plenty will make the effort themselves to be prepared. We need to be more selective in our immigrants.
I dont agree. We should at least provide them with tax supported english language education because they likely wont do it otherwise. It only benefits us in the end as well as the immigrants. I dont see an immigrant making minimum wage willing to fork over money for english classes....its not going to happen. Allowing them to obtain english lessons for free would encourage them to gain the skills necessary to become productive. I am also talking about LEGAL immigrants, not illegal ones.

Honestly, painfully so. NO. Spend the money on keeping them o-u-t OUT. If we're going to spend tax dollars on improving the lot of the disadvantaged then let it be spent on those born and raised here. Improve their skills, improve their healthcare, improve their job prospects. While we're at it, improve their english. Lord knows many of the underprivileged are barely functional in language and basic life skills.

I saw on tv not long ago about a farmer near the border who was in favor of all the illegal immigrants. His reasoning was he couldn't pay our citizens enough to leave the couch and the welfare or SSI check to come pick his onions. "These Mexicans will pick all day long and not complain." He failed to say how much he paid them.
