I am referring to being able to visit hospitals, not a health care plan.
Only if they cant pay for it.
If they can afford it we should fix them, charge them double & then send their illegal personages back to Mexico.

This is a moot point, in places where there is a large illegal immigration problem, the ERs are doing there best to give substandard care (because hospitals know these people won't pay)... they don't fix the non-life threatening problems and refer them to a generalist or specialist for appropriate care (where they WILL have to pay if they want care)... this is fine because this is a WAR on illegal immigration... hospitals can't work for free cause they will go bankrupt in one day and nobody will be able to take care of anyone.........

The problem? Big Business hates it (especially hospitals)- imagine if they were given Amnesty and Medicaid... these hospitals stand to make billions of dollars and keeping the illegal immigrants here buying Walmart goods allows Walmart to make millions of dollars... that's why there is a special interest in Big Business to legalize them (PROFIT) however it is the people who pay their taxes that supports medicaid and such... if it was up to me... I would increase the corporate tax and charge THEM for medicaid services... then you will see business arguing NOT to give them Amnesty... the government is corrupt... McCain and Obama are corrupt... you cannot win against Big Business if you continue to elect corrupt politicians...

I have a good solution. Since the Catholic Church and a couple of the others seem to have such a vested interest in unlimited immigration and illegal immigration, then why don't the ambulances take the illegals to Catholic hospitals for their free health care? The children of illegals could be given their free education in these Catholic and Methodist church schools since they want them here so badly.

Default It's complicated...

This is such a complicated issue, with good arguments for multiple sides.

On one hand, I don't think it's fair that my husband and I pay over $2k a year in medical insurance premiums, plus copays and 20% co-insurance for doctor's visits, while illegal immigrants just waltz into an ER and receive treatment without having to pay a dime. Not to mention the fact that healthcare costs continually rise and hospitals frequently have to shut down to account for this non-payment for treatment by a large portion of the population.

On another hand, I don't think it's a good idea to let the family of four who just contracted typhoid and hepatitis during their emigration from Mexico to be turned away from hospitals, only to spread the diseases throughout the community, because they were unable to pay for treatment.

Neither scenario is ideal. And so it goes...

Default Well

Give them the care they need then bill the Embassy of the illegals home Country.

Until American Citizens are given the same health care as illegals, we have a very broken system.

Yes they should be denied-under ALL circumstances. My husband and I pay a lot for insurance, co insurance and have huge deductibles. We also pay for illegal aliens through our tax dollars and I am sick of it.

I have 1000 dedeuctible and 25% of the bill if I go to the ER and that deductible and co insurance does not count towards my regular deductible/co insurance. If I ever have to go to the ER I should give a fake name and tell them it is discrimanatory to ask for ID. Then they will have to treat me. The thing is I would go to jail-illegals don't.

If illegals did not receive free healthcare, food stamps, welfare, ESL, HUD, etc. etc. etc. then guess what? There would less of them here. Cut off all freebies, make employers verify work status and enforce current immigration laws and there would be significantly less illegal aliens here.

This post should be laminated and put into everyone's wallet. Or put on a billboard every 27 feet on the I-495 Beltway in Washington D.C. There are many issues in the political world that have shades of gray when it comes to debate. This is not one of them. It's black and white. Nicole's assessment is spot on. I think our politicians are often guilty of using pathos as a means to dictate public policy instead of logos. Why? It's just easier and more politically expedient.

I don't know how they get away with it, when I go to the ER I have to show my ID, my insurance card, sign a whole bunch of papers, pay my co-pay upfront and I am treated like I am not going to pay. I sit at this desk with this person while she asks me a ton of questions, they make sure all of my info in the computer is correct, I have to list references and then they allow me or my family member to be admitted. Why I am being treated like this???? I am sick of my way of life being screwed up because these people feel they have entitlements. WE DO NOT OWE THEM ANYTHING!!!!! Healthcare, water when they cross the desert, NOTHING!!!!!!
