What location do you think the hospital should have discharged the homeless patients to?

Not a place with 10,000 homeless, drugs and criminals ready to take advantage of someone who is hurt or sick.

The second picture is a of a 63 year old lady still dressed in hospital gown, dumped on skid row.

These hospitals didn't discharge them anywhere. They simply dumped the patients on the street. This practice is inhumane. Please tell me you are not defending these hospitals. They could have taken the patients to the homeless shelter and handed them over to the staff there.

They did drop them off in front of a homeless shelter. The shelter refused to take them and that is when the police became involved.

But last Sunday, Los Angeles police captured video and still photos of five patients from a single hospital being dropped off in front of the Volunteers of America Service Center
I am not sure if legally a hospital can discharge a homeless patient to the care of a shelter. I am pretty sure people have to go to the shelter voluntarily. That is why police and social workers will try to convince the homeless to sleep in a shelter rather than on the street. They cannot simply pick them up and transport them there. So if either the shelter refuses admission or the patient chooses not to go there, we end up with the unfortunate situation in the reports.

What the hospital did was not right, but the issue is a bit more complicated than it seems. Ideally, the patient would be transferred for a short stay at a nursing home or chronic care facility so they would be in better physical shape prior to discharge. They are hardly the typical patient who will return to a home or apartment and have friends or family available to help out while they get back on their feet. Also, people are discharged much sooner than they were in the past meaning although they are well enough to leave the hospital, they are still frail physically. Ultimately, however the patient will probably end up back where they started unless someone has been able to get them to agree to treatment or other lifestyle changes. Which is sad.

What do you have to back up this claim?

This issue has been discussed many times already. Illegal aliens overcrowd our schools, hospitals, freeway, etc. Many work for cash and don't pay a dime into the system. Yet they go to our hospitals for free and their children go schools for free. Whatever amount of money they make they send most of it home. The few benefits they bring to the greedy, law-breaking employers that hire them don't help pay for our schools, hospitals, roads, etc.

Sorry, but you won't find many believers here.

The facts are the facts, migrant workers pay billions, and billlions of dollars in taxes and social security, and never apply for refunds or benefits, that amount offsets any money spent in their care, overcrowded Hospitals??
get real, as part of the administrative and medical staffof a hospital near a big enclave of migrant workers I can tell you otherwise, as I already commented in another post; of the 8 million dollarsof uncollected money,
only 0.003% was suspected to come from migrant workers(approx $25,000)
which is next to nothing.
I welcome migant workers without any reservations, they are the base of our economy.

So far you have not shown proof of these "facts" you are so fond of repeating. It obviously that you are an illegal-immigration advocate, or an illegal yourself. If that's the case, help yourself to all the freebies if you haven't already. In case you are wondering where the freebies come from, the American taxpayers paid for them. But you probably don't care anyway. Just don't ICE see you, huh.

You consider Barinnas an "illegal-immigration advocate"? How so? I'd sure like to know how you arrived at THAT conclusion. If there's something we should know, please tell us....
