Now this is from the father of the 2 children killed in the crash (may their souls rest in peace).
Quote:
Ray Tranchant has seen his daughter's picture on such sites. He said groups that call for measures such as mass deportations "muck up the real solution," which he said involves building a border fence, deporting criminals and giving noncriminals an earned path to legalization. But he knows the power of cases such as that of Tessa and Alison. It turned him into an activist.
Guess the dad is for what you guys will call it "Amnesty".
Btw, the dad and i have the same position on how to deal with this situation .
The operative word is "earned." Illegal aliens can earn a "path to citizenship" by getting in the back of the line, while waiting in their countries of origin. Anything less is a slap in the face of "legal" immigrants, and will serve only to encourage more illegal immigration.
We certainly wouldn’t expect to curtail carjacking by rewarding perpetrators with a shiny new car. Why on earth would we expect to curtail illegal immigration by granting yet another amnesty or so-called “path to legalization?”

We all know earned legalization means paying heavy fines and passing extensive criminal background investigations.
Deport them if they are drunk drivers, molesters or are convicted of any other felonies. I just have compassion for those who stay out of trouble and are hardworking.
It is amazing that the father of victim knows exactly who to blame and what to do, he has the fortitude to rationalize, yet many in America continue to put the Hispanic face on these crimes that everybody commits.
Yes he is right, it should not have happened, but our laws were lax and have been for quite some time and now it is too late for his daughter.
If it were a legal white, black or asian drunk driver his daughter would still be dead.

True. However, if our laws were enforced, the person who killed his daughter would have never been in this country to begin with--and there in lies the crux of the problem.

Negligence of the part of whom?
Why continually try to place the hispanic face on these crimes? Why not end it at illegal? Everyone in America commits these crimes.
I would like to see every crime of this nature make front page news. I am sure that right now there is a legal White, Black or Asian person driving drunk hitting people.
The fact that the persons legal status and origin makes this front page news shows how much the media and Americans care about the root of the crime.
How did this guy have a driver's license anyway? And Obama is wanting to give them all drivers' licenses!! I am hoping he will change his position on that.

I did not put "a Hispanic face" on any crime. I don't care if the guy is an illegal Lilliputian or an illegal Martian. If the government were doing their job, he wouldn't have been here in order to drive drunk on American roads, killing this innocent girl.
The "negligence" as you put it, continues to be on the part of the American government for failing to enforce our laws, secure our borders, and protect and serve those who put them in office to begin with.
