agenda--what does everyone think of that statement? Just curious. One earlier post mentioned that Oprah would not have a nice lawn or garden if she could no longer get help/workers for her grounds.

Does everyone follow suit with this? Should US policy be recommended by Oprah?.

Are your referring to illegals? I think Americans would pick up the slack if you do. There are plenty of homeless folks that probably would like a break in life... It may also bring up the wages for lower end positions....

The illegals do "jobs" that most Americans will not do for less money than what the few Americans ask for.

I found Maddox' stance on illegal immigration here: http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=walmart

Americans can do jobs Illegals do, but choose not to based on physical demand and low wages.

I tend to think people who say "they do the work Americans won't do" is a closet racist, especially politicians, (John McCain) for suggesting we need a lower class to do the work. The government wanting to hold a particular lower class hostage due to illegal status. It only makes sense why government (on the federal level) would look the other way. An analogy: If you were a legal fugitive in the U.S., you'd either rob, steal or work under the table for cash. Same can apply to an illegal immigrant. It's a clever tactic.(IMO anyways) It's ashame this is happening. The U.S. is supposed to be a free and progressive nation. On the other hand, i tend to believe it is the governments plan that's getting underway for a North Amercian Union. Time to do away without borders. Crazy as it sounds, it's the only logical explanation i can come up with.

A rhetoric question: If John McCain asked you to pick lettuce for fifty bucks an hour, would you do it?

Maybe i'm painting the problem with a broad stroke but i believe it's the gist of it anyway!

That statement is the biggest copout of all time! That Swift meat packing plant that got raided by ICE last month (due to hundreds of illegal employees) has been bursting at the seems with American citizen applicants. Go figure, they are doing jobs Americans want to do...it's just that Americans can't accept pay that is obscenely low, but YES they will do these jobs, that argument is baseless...

I can't stand Oprah. No, I don't buy into the argument. If any job is open and a person can get they will. It's just an excuse to keep illegal immigration open. The empire loves it.

I'm not a closet racist, we're talking about Illegals not legal Mexicans. Illegals DO the work that we (the American citizen) won't do since it's demanding and the pay is next to nothing. There's no shame in hiding the truth.

And yes, if McCain would ask me to pick lettuce for $50/ hour, I'd do it. Heck I'd do it for free in exchange to talk to him 1 on 1, he's one of the few political figures I actually look up to.

I'll match your statement with one of my own..

AN HONEST DAYS PAY, FOR AN HONEST DAYS WORK.

Does that answer your question?

Illegals are taking many jobs because the employer can pay them less. Many construction jobs are paying half of what they would to you & me. and they work for no benifits. they have undercut the working people that are americans. its not jobs that I wont do. McCain was taken up on his offer by many people, he backed down. like most employers they will go for cheap labor.
