This video is the latest pro-illegal propaganda issued by La Raza. They are determined to link illegal alien opponents with racist hate groups. Notice the word “illegal” is never mentioned.

“There is a debate to be had over immigration,” says the National Council of La Raza (NCLR) President and CEO Janet Murguía, “and we’re anxious to have it. But, so far, the rhetoric has not been about policy, it has been about hate. No good policy has ever come from the demonization of one group by another. The hate has got to stop.”

And anti-illegals are constantly comparing illegal immigrants and those who advocate for them to Nazis, KKK, white supremacists, and racists.
The mudslinging is coming from both sides.

However, while all those against illegal immigration arent necessarily racist or anti-hispanic, all of those who are racist and anti-hispanic ARE against illegal immigration.

The two groups have the same goal, even its for different reasons. Its inevitable they will cross paths somehow, even accidentally.

And I agree with that quote you linked to.
He admits illegal immigration is a problem, and he's saying he is against the demonization of the immigrants themselves and wants to seperate ethnicity and race from the issue.

The pro illegal crowd is becoming more and more desperate------much like the KKK in the 1950's as American Blacks started receiving their (well deserved) civil rights in the Old South.

Where did you see that? Unless I missed it, a distinction is NOT made between legal and illegal immigration.

The fact that most racists are likely to also be anti-Mexican, or anti-Black, or anti-Hispanic, is a given. That’s generally the mindset of a racist. However, it is disingenuous for La Raza, et al. to imply that anti-“illegals” are by definition, racists. That’s a deceptive ad hominem tactic.

When basing a message on the 'research' performed by the Southern Poverty Law Center it's a good idea to wear your asbestos underwear. Morris Dees and his money-grubbing minions have been exposed over and over again as the largest huckstering firm in the nation.

Google 'The Church of Morris Dees' for the story...

Maybe I'm speaking too much for him, but what he did say is that immigration needs to be discussed, but first we got to put aside the race and cultural aspects of it (language, cultural traits) before we can actually discuss the policies and stuff.

Are you trying to be subtle with your comparing so-called "pro illegals" to the KKK and anti-illegal Americans to the oppressed Blacks during the civil rights era, or is that just a simile gone wrong?

I'm all for putting aside race in discussing immigration. But exactly which "cultural traits" should be discussed? Hopefully you aren't referring to the importance, or unimportance, of laws and how a culture views them? THat's pretty 'scary', I must admit. Should a "violent" culture, for example, be held to a looser standard of obeying American law, than a "less violent" culture? Also, do you see a distinction between legal immigration and illegal immigration?...and exactly how does "culture" figure into the difference between the two (assuming of course that there IS a difference). Is illegal immigration ever "OK", as long as the person has cultural values that "tell him" it's OK?

Given that there are arguably 30 or 40 major "cultures" around the world, and hundreds of variations of them, exactly what is the US Government's responsibility in seeking to accomodate each culture? Do some have preference over others? Does the US get to make a 'pitch' for ITS culture to be factored into all these 'policies and stuff'? (assuming that the US HAS a culture at all)...

Fair questions, I believe. Anybody have any answers..or any thoughts on this?
