Mesa unveiled a new immigration-enforcement policy Wednesday, making it clear everyone arrested in the city will be asked about their immigration status.

Something similar is being enacted in Loudoun County, VA. By asking ALL arrested their immigration status, the ACLU and their ilk can't scream “racial profiling.” I wish Maryland would follow suit.

As you stated.....and, needless to say: not all illegal immigrants are Spanish surnamed Mestizos either.

It is just too bad that it is done in the smallest administrative level (city) and not from the top/federal

Hehehe it SHOULD be done at the local level considering we don't have federal officers in every city in America... It should NOT be federal mandates but be relied upon state and local government mandates and officers... The Federal government does very little and ask a lot in return... i prefer it if they keep their heavily corporately corrupted hands off our existing laws...

Better than nothing.

Back in the Civil Rights days 2 generations ago: it was one state at a time that dismantled Jim Crow-------then the Feds stepped in to finish the job

How true. Many escape detection simply because they don’t fit the “stereotypical” image of an illegal alien. The “face” of the illegal immigrant in this country is Hispanic; which has enabled “other” illegals to stay under the radar. Imagine how many illegals (of every race/ethnicity) could be apprehended if all jurisdictions enacted similar laws.
