Default Group files complaint against U.S. Rep. Reyes over role in getting kidnapped relative released

Reyes, former chief Border Patrol agent, knows that this type of request is frowned upon by the U.S. Border Patrol," said Andy Ramirez, a retired Border Patrol official and national president of Friends of the Border Patrol, who filed the complaint dated Monday.

Friends of the Border Patrol, a nonprofit law enforcement advocacy organization, posted a copy of the complaint on its Web site at www.FOBP.us.

Sandalio "Sandy" Gonzalez, former top El Paso DEA official, signed a letter supporting the complaint as national president of the Federal Hispanic Law Enforcement Officers Association.

Reyes has not denied that his office asked the Immigration and Customs Enforcement for assistance in solving the kidnapping of his wife's relative, who is a Mexican citizen. Both he and ICE officials denied any wrongdoing.

The relative was released unharmed in Juárez after a $32,000 ransom was paid.

Group files complaint against U.S. Rep. Reyes over role in getting kidnapped relative released - El Paso Times

This self absorbed loser needs to resign. How dare he use US government employees and the taxpayers money in this manner . . . the insanity in our government continues.

Good. It's time the politicians be prosecuted for their corruption and using government agencies for their own benefit like this.

What's particularly absurd, Reyes used federal agencies to intervene for his Mexican relative living in Mexico and becoming a victim in Mexico. He has never shown any indication that he would lift a finger to do much of anything for a taxpaying American citizen.

Then Reyes should do the right thing and resign from office. He's abused his power and authority. He's now of the belief that he's above the "little people", that he is not there to serve the American people but to serve himself. To use our assets as his own.

The other thing -- why was this woman targetted? Is she a drug trafficker herself? A member of a drug cartel targetted by the competing cartel? Obviously the kidnappers knew they weren't kidnapping a poor woman but one with very good connections and big money. Has she benefitted in some financial way from Reyes' open borders like his daughter has?

And whatever happened to not negotiating with terrorists? Good American citizens have been sacrificed so that we don't encourage hostage taking and terrorism, yet this Mexican citizen has our government moving quickly in her behalf which now puts others at much greater risk. We do negociate with hostage takers and terrorists obviously if they are Mexican.
