Isn't that something? I guess it all depends on what language you speak....For example, you are as white as me, but since your mother tongue is English, then you are "White", since my native language is Spanish, then I am "Brown", Hispanic or Latino. But then here is the difference. In Peru, Fujimori is Peruvian. There isn't much of a racial classification as here in the States (not saying that we are not racist). Going back to my heritage, in Cuba I was always Cuban, although some of my friends used to call me "Chino" because of my Asian features. I don't remember ever marking an "Asian" box like in the USA. Even among people of African descent, they were all known as Cuban, black Cubans. So basically there were two categories, either black or white. Maybe in the USA we like to categorize people more in detail. Maybe we just like to have a better sense of who is who. But I think that at the end of the day, we should remember that we are all Americans.
