Since the imposition of the “Prevention Through Deterrence” policy in the 1990s, the US-Mexico border has become the most militarised border between two peacetime nations. This policy focuses the efforts of the Border Patrol on densely populated and easy to cross areas. A wide array of technological surveillance and fortification is already used including SUVs, drones, thermal imaging cameras, motion sensors, infrared cameras, ground sensors, surveillance towers, and even a blimp. Jason de León of the Undocumented Migrant Project likens the Border Patrol’s use of expensive high-tech gadgets to magical fetishes. And like talismen, the weapons of the Border Patrol operate to ward off the unwanted.
The border is the backdoor into America and I don't know about you but I lock my doors at night so I don't wake up the next morning to find I have been robbed or worse that a family has moved into my living room and they are now demanding that I take care of them.
We need a secure border but the Left doesn't think so. isis has been greatly diminished since Trump became President but there are still plenty of terrorists that would love to sucker punch America. What if a handful of terrorists strolled across our porous border and walked a dirty bomb to downtown LA? It could happen.
There should not be a debate about securing the border especially as the world becomes more dangerous and extreme.

80% of illegal fentanyl seized by the DEA comes from the sinaloa cartel, along with tons of other drugs. A secure border would help stop more of that garbage.

Exactly. The Dems say a wall won't work because it can be climbed or tunneled under but if that same wall can stop half of the drugs, illegal aliens, human traffickers, guns etc etc from sneaking into America and hurting citizens and LEGAL immigrants then it is a wall worth building.
Illegal aliens cost us Billions of dollars per year from healthcare to educating the kids to processing the criminal ones to housing, caring, welfare fraud, auto accidents where they ruin someones day/life and the list goes on and on.
With the amount of money we could save by cracking down on illegal aliens the wall would pay for itself.

None of those things qualifies as military. The military might make use of them, but they also make use of beds, trucks, beer glasses, and a host of other items.
Militarized means the DMZ between the Koreas or Checkpoint Charlie in Berlin of the early 60s: Armed soldiers with tanks at the ready.
I’d also put 100,000 troops on the border full time
This insanity HAS TO STOP
