NEW ORLEANS - A federal appeals court has refused to throw out lengthy prison sentences for two U.S. Border Patrol agents convicted of shooting an unarmed illegal immigrant and lying about it.
The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans on Monday upheld most of the convictions against former agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean.
The appeals court vacated their convictions for tampering with an official proceeding, but the three-judge panel refused to reverse the convictions that resulted in their lengthy sentences.
Ramos and Compean were convicted in 2006 and sentenced to 11 and 12 years in prison, respectively. Both men claimed they shot at Osvaldo Aldrete Davila, an illegal immigrant and admitted drug smuggler, in self defense.

please mr bush do 1 kind thing b4 you leave, pardon these 2 men.
He won't because then he'd have to finger Gonzalez and Sutton who were duplicitous and major players in the fraudulent imprisonment of these two honorable men. It's time for America to wake up and take our government and our country back. This is unbelievable bull.

This is a disgrace! How much more corruption and traitorous behavior must we endure? These men are innocent, and should not be in prison. The scum illegal alien drug dealer is free to continue his criminal activity while they are rotting away in prison. Is there any question whose side our government is on?

BIG BUSINESS AND AGRI BUSINESS.
They are indeed innocent, which is why they are having a hard time recruiting more BP officers. I don't know who these criminals masquerading as our government treat worse, the American people, our BP or our Servicemen.
This, coming from someone who argued that there are so many "innocent" people (illegals) in our jails on death row.
I could never make any sense of that poster's comments and only ever see her posts when someone quotes her - now you know why I used the "ignore poster" feature on her months ago.
It is so blazingly obvious that these BP agents are in jail to satisfy political agenda so lovingly executed by Sutton. Both of these men deserve to be reunited with their families and be allowed to return to work. Sutton deserves a firey barbed rod, and I'll let you guess where....
There are some innocent people in prison and some on death row, and guess who are usually charged like this??? It us usally the black or Mexican.
Didn't you just state that the border agents wouldn't have been convicted unless they were guilty? Which is it? Are only the guilty convicted, or not? Make up your mind.
